After watching another game of guys like Blueger, Suter, Heinen etc. etc on the bottom six muffing passes and failing to generate anything offensively, I might be tempted to take another flyer on Kravtsov.

In mean when you're losing anyway, what have you got to lose? They could sign him to an affordable contract and still ship him out to Abbotsford if it all fell apart.

Wouldn't be interesting if the Canucks were to do a major deal with the Hurricanes, and held out for Nikishin as one of the pieces coming back.

Granted it's a longshot......as much a longshot as both Kravtsov and Nikishin being Canucks next season.

Interesting, but somehow KHL players that don't work out in NHL and are doing well in KHL probably should just stay where they belong. Clearly can play well in a certain environment, but it's not in NHL.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kuzmenko goes back after this season.

Good for him. The play that marked the beginning of the end of his NHL career-- crosschecked into the boards with the puck 40 feet away from him; no penalty called-- is still one of the gold standards of NHL referee incompetence.

Well, yes. That's the point. Shabanov is doing the sorts of things that will earn you an NHL contract as a skill player from the KHL. Kravtsov is not.

I've said before that I really doubt that he's coming back, and I still feel that way, and that's because of my sense of what Kravtsov himself is thinking. If he'd been imagining a possible NHL career, he would never have left; he'd have gone down the street to Abby with a determination to earn a call-up midseason. But he wasn't willing to bet on himself

I think the reason he left, was strictly about 'money'. He probably earned at least 10 times in the KHL, what he'd earn still playing on an ELC in the AHL.

I suspect he'll stay in Russia for the same reason. but not sure long the Canucks actually retain his rights. I believe if he re-signs in the KHL, he automatically becomes a UFA when his contract is done.

He'd earn more in the NHL if he made it with some success. But he didn't think that would happen.

I don't quite get comments like this.

Kravtsov is unlikely to come back. He probably won't make it if he tries. But the Canucks hold his NHL rights, and there'll always be a handful of Canuck fans who maintain interest in such players until the door is permanently shut. That's long been the case. Tryamkin. Koltsov. Even Chubarov.

A few posters continue the discussion, and another few for some reason have to come in and ankle-bite.
