Visiting LA? Where to go? What to do? Ask here

Flying into LAX then driving up to Santa Barbara... favorite sandwich or mexican place between the two?

Not Mexican food or a sandwich shop, but one of my favorite steakhouses is in Carpinteria, just a stone's throw from the 101: 'Clementines.' It's a bit pricey, but the steak is phenomenal, and the portions on the sides are huge. Supposedly they have really good chicken, too.

The part in bold is awesome. I respect that in steak man.

What is your favorite cut of steak?

Ha, well, filet mignon of course; but I'd go broke if I ate that every other day...otherwise, Top Sirloin and New York Strip (in that order). London Broil is good for griding up in our Ninja and throwing in taco shells. Costco selling Prime Top Sirloin for $8.99 lb is the reason I go there at least once every couple of weeks...

It's on our list! We also have a WB Studio Tour scheduled and we're deciding which beach to go to. We're also debating a trip to Disneyland.

The problem with Disneyland (especially in the summer) is long wait lines for the rides. You can spend an entire day there mostly waiting in line...the best time to go is a cold January day during the week. :)

This is true. But there are ways to mitigate wait time. I strongly recommend touringplans.com and the lines app. I've used both extensively for both Disneyland and Disneyworld.

Could be a good option to take my mom for her birthday dinner. Thanks.

To anyone interested in Taiwanese drinks, then I recommend MJ Cafe and Teahouse in Walnut, just across the street from Mt. SAC.

They even sell mint lemonades.

ok... first time poster in this section.... I have to say I love

http://www.amapolamarket.com/HTML/tortilleria_en.html

made up some casseroles with the masa preparada ... too lazy to make individual tamales... this place made it look like I could cook!!! HAHAHAH! It was a 50:50 on whether or not it would blow up in my face.... you just got to take a chance.....

Driving from SNA airport to DTLA . What's drive like

Ok another question, we are flying into SNA airport Friday Jan 9 2015, we are renting a car and driving to the Renasoncce Hotel around LA Live for the Saturday Kings/Jets game. Then Sunday morning checking out then driving to Anaheim for the Sunday night game. Anyways I was wondering what the drive is like from SNA airport to DTLA on a Friday around noon in mid January. We are coming from Manitoba which is about as big as California but only have 1.2 million people so LA/Anaheim will be a little of a culture shock for us I will say. But just like to hear your thoughts on the drive and the LA to Anaheim drive on a Sunday morning !! Thanks in advance .

Unpredictable. Is the easiest way to describe it. early afternoon traffic will be lighter. But traffic is always worse on a Friday

Your easiest route is going to be the 405 to the 110. The 405 does have carpool lanes. You'll need a stupid toll road transponder to use the carpool lanes on the 110.

I would conservatively plan for a 90 minute drive. Getting there early is a good idea, there is a ton to do an eat in LA Live

Is there any bigger music festival in the LA area from September 12-30 that people are going to?

Either in LA or surrounding areas? I am going to San Deigo but will be driving to LA.

I did some prelim research online but LA is pretty big so its hard to find relevent info.
I am 23 and like any type of music (besides the most hardcore stuff). Missing Made in America so Im chapped, but any similar concerts to this?

And are the Kings having their Camp around this (is it open to public). I have played hockey in the past at the rink they and the lakers practice at, and wouldnt mind going to watch an actual NHL team practice.

I just wanna also say god damn you guys are lucky to live in LA. Such a nice city with everything going on. Summer is coming to a close in Canada and snow should be falling in about a 1.5 months, its already sweater weather here. Are the beaches still good to go to in late september?

I just tried this yogurt place called Menchie's.

Eastland Center

245 Barranca Avenue, West Covina. Buy 1, Get 1 Free prepackaged frozen yogurt.

I even got Heath Toffee and New York Cheesecake.

Late add: $5 Tuesdays.

Don't know about music festivals, but there's always stuff going on on Sunset. Check the calendar for the clubs there.

Yes, you can visit and it's free.

The beaches are especially incredible in September.

You just missed fyf fest but sunset strip fest is going on 9/20-9/21.

Beaches should be good through October. The beaches are good year round but the warmer weather brings more crowds and hot chicks.

Meet the kings

I would recommend buying tickets ahead of time from stubhub

The players supposedly hang out out at Hennessey's Tavern in Hermosa
