Recalled/Assigned: Vinni Lettieri - Recalled to Boston Jan 13

What do you think of the latest call up? Same rationale I would suggest.
I'll be honest, I'm disappointed, but I guess I get it. They probably felt they owed the best player in Providence an NHL paycheck for his good work down there both in terms of his play and his mentorship of the 21 year olds on the team. Stuff like that does happen and fans aren't really privy to those conversations and considerations.

And like you said, Lettieri is a hard worker, he is dependable, and they have two tough games this week against Tampa and Ottawa. Games where they probably don't want to be distracted with working a 21 year old into the lineup and watching his matchups. Lettieri is plug and play, and maybe he can bring a bit of speed to that line.

All that said, I do think it's time for Lysell to get an extended look. He's earned it. Maybe not this week, but they need to find a way to get him multiple games.

Vinni's addition costs the Bruins an extra $225,000 or so. Brining up Lysell costs an extra $752,500. Both numbers get sliced down per league day, so the big numbers are just an example here.

I'm sure this in no way affects the rationale of the Boston Bruins.

Lettieri doesn’t cost anything extra. McLaughlin went down and the salaries are a was.

Lysell is 463K minutes the savings on McLaughlin.

The difference between Lettieri and Lysell would be 43K for the rest of the season

D. Excellent explanation of Bruin drafting wins by winning the best prospect in the round. Love the podcast.

I'd probably have more tolerance for these type of call ups if this team were in a contenting position. We know what these players are. Their skills don't translate. They don't move the needle this year...... and certainly don't help moving forward.

Can't help but think there is an unachievable standard or perhaps even a bias when it comes to these decisions. Though it's hard to argue Lettieri didn't earn it (again). Anyway, I hope he finds success.

I understand that the team is struggling right now and we're all looking for answers, but the amount of pearl clutching and couch fainting in this thread is over the top.

It's a minor league call up to patch the fourth line for a game or two.
