I would offer him for $1m for 1 year.

It'll be interesting to see how all these free agents fit in . There isn't enough money to pay them all

Who will be Tampa's new captain?

Andreychuk was let go while he was still the captain as well.

I think most of us should come to terms with the idea the Kings won't be signing anyone of note unless Scuderi goes elsewhere. Even if that is the case, it is likely the money will be spent on depth players like veteran dman and/or winger. The Kings just don't have money to spend unless Mitchell's situation goes south very quickly. I don't think DL is going to spend over the cap unless he is certain Mitchell won't be ready to start the season. Even then, he is still going to need a solid exit strategy should Mitchell get healthy some point early in the season.

The bottom line, the Kings really don't have the flexibility to offer the terms that a lot of the more desirable UFA's will more than likely be offered. Most of them aren't all that appealing anyway.

Lecavalier said he will be looking for security and wants to sign long term. He is destined to go to Montreal.

Security? The man has made $43 million over the last four years, and he is destined to make $32 million over the next fourteen years, no matter what happens or what deal he signs. Not to mention having made $27.5 million the previous four years before that... He already has $100 million earned. Security.

I don't think he means financial security, he's referring to job security.

If I were Vinny, I'd pick the city I want to spend the rest of my career in and sign a 7 year deal at the league minimum with a NMC.

Plus living in the state with the lowest taxes right?

Pretty soon but word is that Vinny will sign with the Leafs. TL, Nonis and VC's agent spent the afternoon talking and everyone likes what everyone else is saying.

Sounds pretty tight. I imagine that they will listen to offers but it sounds like the Leafs may have their 1st line center.

Lecavalier says he wants a multi-year deal, the Kings won't give him that. Toronto or Montreal on the other hand, they need a Lecavalier more than anyone else.

I'd say CALGARY needs a 1st line Center more than ANYONE else, but then again ... they need a new GM, ownership ... enema, something more too.

And their building was under water. Even the mascots head got destroyed. I guess they didn't use Flex Seal.

I could see that. Thankfully he didn't go to the Ducks, coulda made them a legit team.

Also really gotta wonder about all this broke ass NHL **** we heard all year when Tampa Bay can afford to pay a guy 30 million to go away.

Richards is next to be bought out.

Just think if the Kings would have ended up with that albatross of a contract... or Kovalpuke's as well.

if TB doesnt turn things around within the next few seasons, it won't surprise me to see Stamkos traded or leave when he's UFA. that team is going no place fast, Vinny is gone, St Louis is getting up there in age, the D and G situation continues to be as reliable as the Pens backend, some key top prospects traded away, prosepcts that many say are all undersized, a top D prospect out for an entire season....the list goes on.

Which is why DL doesn't offer those contracts.

Everyone complains (not saying you savemefromtears, just everyone in general) that we miss out on these UFA's we go after, but how man of them end up with contracts that are Pejorative Slured and nothing but a boat anchor? DL's been smart about it, hence our awesome cap situation (which is a bit tight right now but will be great in a few years).

Dean offered the same contract to Brad, Richards picked NY because he felt they were closer to a cup win. Don't thank Dean for that, thank Brad.

Dean offered a crazy contract to Kovalchuk too, NJ just offered an even crazier one to keep him.

Link on Richards?

And DL didn't offer Kovlachuk the contract he signed, which was my point. If he had signed in LA, it wouldn't be as bad of a deal as he has now. There's a reason we don't end up with these contracts, and it has more to do with DL not going as far as NJ, Chicago, NYR, etc. for these guys.
