Lindgren or some other free agent. Don't want to rush Hofer. Or count on him. Can't see DA anointing him as the backup for next season.
Yeah. It’d be great if Hofer was the backup this season, but no need to force him to be if he isn’t ready. At the very least he should face competition, which was a mistake Armstrong made in 2020-2021 with Husso.

Binnington was standing on his head though and stealing games. If Binnington was healthy, we absolutely have a shot to beat them, but it would be because he won the series with unsustainable amazing play in net. Even just regular great play in net doesn't get us past the Avs.
100%. The entire playoffs changed for the Blues once Binningotn was in net. His ability to play the puck behind the net changed the Wild series and was missed once he exited the Av series with the injury.

Hofer needs to play games. I am not seeing how much of that happens in the NHL as a backup. I also like having AHL goalies come up when injuries hit and get a few games. If they have a rough outing, they get to go back to the AHL and rebuild their confidence. If you are an NHL backup, have a bad game, and then have to wait a long time to get a start, that loss can linger in your mind as a young guy who isn’t established or has had the chance to build up habits of a short-term memory.

Hofer is still young, so not much of a concern right now, but as long as the backup we get doesn't block Hofer in 23/24 if he's earned a spot or even the season after, then I'm fine. I don't want to repeat the Bishop situation, where Bishop's pre-season played earned a spot in 11/12 and was ultimately ready, but Elliott surprised and played great. I don't think a 1-2 year bridge will be an issue for Hofer, but I'd also like the ability for Hofer to be the backup if he comes into camp and earns the job.

It's a tough spot for Army because we definitely need the insurance of a reliable vet in case Binnington does struggle, but we probably don't want to get into a 2-3 year commitment at a number that's hard to get out of if Hofer takes that next step in the minors.

I think I would be pretty comfortable with Lindgren (if/when resigned) or Hofer as backup next year depending on who has the better camp. Wish the best for Husso but we have other more important needs to fill with the cap space imo

Do you mean signing a veteran backup for 2-3 years?

desmith signing 2 years at 1.8 could help armstrong keep husso at a lower cost

Rangers traded Georgiev to Avalanche

Story from TSN

So...if the Rangers need a back-up goalie...maybe we can package negotiating rights to Husso for a draft pick or maybe a LHD...key word here: MAYBE

Feel free to weigh in...

Negotiating rights for UFAs have pretty minimal value. We'd be getting a late round pick, that's it.

Husso can leave, I found our new backup. Her name is Mikayla Demaiter and I'm not sure how good she is but that's not really important.
