I've only played a few but really tend to like them too. No Man's Sky, Grounded, The Long Dark, Rust, Valheim.
Ever play Green Hell? I've wanted to play that for a while - good sale price right now.
I could see how it’s fun but it really takes the survival aspect and ramps it up. Food and water really matter.
Enemies seem to spawn from no where, at least back when I played it.
It was fun for a little bit but then got too unfair.
I enjoyed the trial of grounded I played for what it was. I couldn’t get into valheim after 10 hours or so.
I like the freedom to make a base wherever I want as big or small as I want. If the game doesn’t have that I generally can’t stick with it.
I also almost exclusively play them offline solo. Those games communities are far too toxic to play online. If it’s pvp you get spawn camped or rolled by the alpha clan, or the alpha clan alliances with two or three slightly inferior clans to lockout a vital resource.
If it’s pve you have some random building material spammed across the whole map preventing you from building anything decent.
