How is NHL this year in comparison to years prior?

Goalies: broken for now, will be patched. Defense has no tools besides a super arcade-y hip check that everyone and their mother uses at all positions. They made a new control scheme too where you can hit a face button to hip check. It's horrible. The pressure system makes some sense in theory; in practice, it's varying degrees of ass. Despite all the talk about one touch passing (which is wonky and works way less than you'd think), I think the passing is pretty bad. If you have the creativity to do multi-pass quick plays, it usually ends up dying on a bad pickup or questionable pickoff. Offense is geared to junk and snipes.

There hasn't been a good NHL since NHL21 -- then they switched to the Frostbite engine. Also, the servers f***ing suck for me.

My neighbour is a manager on the Frostbite team. I'll let him know that an 18th Century Huron Chief doesn't approve of EA's 21st century gaming engine. :sarcasm:

Unfortunately for him, I think the entire community isn't shy saying NHL22-24 have sucked to varying degrees. But if you could be a pal, get him in touch with me about my input delay only on this damned game that the EA forum managers give me the runaround about!

Thanks. Appreciate it.

Yeah kinda buns so far. Feels like you have less control of your player than I can remember. Passes, shots, dekes feel delayed. They took at all of the skill gap techniques. I can't even L2 at the blueline this year. They made basic puck protect from a simple button to a complicated stick combo that is hard to trigger when you really need it like picking up pucks. On defense, pokes and interceptions are a coin flip. Scores all look like low scoring football games. Goalies are complaining about the mechanics. I'm fine with an offensive game, but it feels like bad mechanics more than anything. The game rewards low percentages shots and plays. I had to stop clipping goals because it was at least two outrageous ones a game.

Pretty much this too.

The only good news is full cross play. And I know your tag.

I shared this because it’s just so funny when he yells after he gets knocked off the cliff lol. Ridiculously funny.

That is the notorious "Wilhelm Scream" used for decades across movies, TV shows, video games, etc.
