OT: Video Game Thread Part VIII

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Sorry to interrupt the soccer thread, I just picked up Civ VI off humble bundle.
I haven’t played a civ game in at least 5 years and the new stuff is throwing me off.
Any suggestions on how to relearn how to play other than trial and error?
Long games are fine, but long games that are losses suck after a few rack up.

I might join you. I am so bad this year. I played WL for the first time for the obj and got 6 wins. SIX. I lost in pens four times lol.

Figo is a rare card. I forgot he was even in the game until I ran into someone using him in Rush last night. Looks decent.

I am not opening a single pack this week and have held off on SBCs so far this week (although I want that Talisca). This promo is trash and the Black Friday promo looks amazing.

It feels like they made the game even heavier and more ice skate-y. :laugh: Don’t feel bad, the games just shit and you can’t play the right way.

I still haven’t t gotten a single promo card out of a pack since that DiMarco in the first few weeks
Pack weight is either horrendous or I’m just cursed. :laugh:

And yeah, Figo is pretty good. Salah is the MVP team though. The finesse shots are too good. Currently trying to a silly amount of XP in record time to get the Malen from the season rewards.

Ya know, I was a lot better when I was just ripping finesse shots with Griezmann. Just got tired of using gold cards. :laugh:

Wish I could donate some XP. They do have XP in the store if you get desperate. ;)

Ok, that’ll be a last resort if I can’t make it. I’ve got it down to about 4k so we’ll see.

@FLYguy3911 played a guy who scored a long range power shot 30 seconds in, hit the griddy, and then paused for me to quit.

Before halftime I scored 5 straight goals, griddy/paused repeatedly, and then got this :laugh:

I tried the 4-4-1-1 yesterday and it was like I was playing a new game. Need a power shooter though.

Btw these SBCs about to drop are going to hurt me financially.

And yeah, the new cards/promo/SBCs look nuts.

You have to be shitting me haha. Out of a 81+. Congrats you rat. I have yet to pack him in any FIFA. They must have juiced the packs since no one is opening any. :sarcasm:

I also got the FC Pro promo card of the #1 ranked pro from the 75+x100, so I’ve just had crazy luck today after having horrific pack luck all year.

However, I did try out some pro player tactics on the 4-2-1-3 and the formation seems really good so far, even though Son was a casualty and ended up on the bench. Feels like players are getting open much more often on the attack and the two CDMs mean defense isn’t sacrificed.

I tried the 4231 for a game yesterday and got roasted and went back to the 4411. I tried a couple winger formations early in the year and didn't feel like I had enough defensive support. I also don't have Mbappe. :laugh:

I have 80 packs and a few player picks waiting for tomorrow. *finger crossed*

:laugh: Ok yeah, true, sorry, but even outside of him I think it’s working better. 4-4-1-1 and 4-4-2 just felt too clogged and static to me.

Also, who do you have at RB? That’s my teams biggest weakness (gold Frimpong) along with CDM but I just can’t find any cheap-ish replacements.

DiLorenzo SBC from like a month and a half ago. Half my team is Napoli players lol. They dropped that Raspadori swap card today too that looks decent.

I need midfielders too. I'm using that Zambo objective card and Weston McKennie's Centurions card. They're supposed to drop a Barella SBC so I'll probably end up doing him.

Ohh ok, gotcha. Yeah, that makes sense.

My CDMs are a Camavinga evo and Centurions Emre Can, so I’m not in good shape either. :laugh:

I just saw that there’s a PERFECT RB for me in the upcoming Thunderstruck promo.

My team has somehow unintentionally ended up being a combined XI of last years UCL final…. with a guest appearance by Mo Salah.
