Well that’s why they’re all opinions, but “never trust game journalist” sounds pretty cynical to me.

Either way, Indy sits at 87 and Veilguard at 82.
I guess never is too cynical, but recent reviews and articles have left me very disheartened with gaming journalists and video game reviewers.

And Veilguard has a user score of 3.8. which pretty much drives my whole point. Reviewers and gamers are on completely opposite ends of what they define as good, right now.

User scores aren't trustworthy either with the amount of review bombing that happens
I won't say review bombing doesn't happen, but is there a game that was "review bombed" that was actually good? Seems like an excuse every time I've seen

Veilguard was pretty good. I hate a lot of things as a Dragon Age: Origins purist, but as a modern game, it's a lot of content for the cash. And all the "woke game" review bombers are driving that score down hard.

A lot of content doesn't mean good content. You can't even be mean to your party members. They completely butchered the Dragon age name.

I'm slowly getting through Veilguard but I'm enjoying it. Feels kind of like what Mass Effect 3 was to that series

I'll somewhat disagree with that. You can choose the standoffish "i'm only here because hr said i have to" option and get everyone killed at the end.

Also dragon age died with dragon age 2, let's be real. Origins was the pinnacle.

Dragon Age has been going on a steady decline since Origins. Bioware as a company too for that matter.

I didn't enjoy Inquisition enough to bother picking up Veilguard unless it was clear that it was a superb game.

Last of Us 2 was better than the original in everything, sometimes significantly superior, except maybe the story which is more subjective anyway. Was torn to shreds by the public.

Ahh okay, I don't have a PS, so I missed the reviews on that one.

The only thing about the Indy game is that I watched some trailers and there is just something completely off with the facial animations. It's hit uncanny valley. Very realistic faces, but absolutely no emotion and their lips barely move when speaking. It's kinda freaky.

Love Machine Games, immersive sims, Todd "The God" Howard and all 3 Indiana Jones movies so yeah this game rules. I could see some people not liking the pacing, I did not fire a gun until 10 hours in but I'm having a great time. Just like New Order and Colossus the cutscene direction is top tier.

The only game reviewer I trust is Lucy James because I want to have her babies.

Okay...I'm torn on what to start next.

In my Steam library I've got the entire Dragon Age series, and the Halo Masterchief edition, I got the red ring of death before I finished the first Halo game. I think I finished a level called the Flood and then it died.

I've never played any of Dragon Age, but I've loved Bioware (Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and even the online Star Wars game...although it had massive problems with scale.

So...what do I jump into first...Halo or Dragon Age?

Halo and Dragon age origins are both 10/10 games. There's no wrong answer here. Just depends on what kind of game you'd rather play right now. One is a fast-paced first-person shooter that is roughly 9 to11 hours long. 17ish hours if you want to 100% it. The other is a classic western RPG with more of a MMO type combat system. Your character and party will auto attack and have skills on a cool-down system. The game will also pause when you give out orders/commands. So it gives it an extra layer of strategy. Origins, is roughly 40 hours for the main story and probably around 80 to 90 to 100%.

Oh....The MasterChief collection is all the HALO games with him. Also...I got the Dragon Age bundle with all the games and expansions.

I will devour them all eventually. Was just debating where to bite first. Based on what you've said, I'm thinking DA. I'm not sure I'm really up to a twitch game on a chemo week. I absolutely loved KotOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect etc...so I guess Bioware is not a bad way to go.

I don't mind spoilers. Is there something in particular I need to keep an eye on while playing DA?

On a recent playthrough, I followed this order for incorporating DLC into Dragon Age Origins (three of the DLC packs integrate into the main game, the others are launched separately), and it worked out well: What Order Do You Do The DLC's? :: Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition Obecné diskuze

They don't make 'em like Origins anymore, hope you enjoy it!

Astro bot winning game of the year feels like a cop out because they just didn't want to give it to Black-Myth Wu Kong.
Its a fine choice. Everyone has their own preferences, but at least Astro is a very good platformer and this year had no true bangers.

Not like some puzzling choices of the past, looking especially at God of War 4 over RD2 which I cannot justify in any way.
