I ever up escaping for the first time earlier!

I was using the Fists, which I hated at first, but I got super lucky on my boons. Athena’s dash is op AF and I mostly used chilled festive fog casts to do my damage while dashing around avoiding damage.

What a great game. And now I gotta go back and try to win with the other weapons!
Those ended up deing my favorite weapon to use. I also liked the spear a lot. The only time I felt completely indestructible is when I had the sword which I got a a life steal ability from Daedalus Hammer on it.

Whoever recommended Hades for the Switch... thank you. That game is exactly what I was looking for. Hack and slash with a dose of strategy, while also having a fun storytelling and being kinda beautiful. I haven't Escaped yet, but I've got about 20 attempts so far and have made it to the Elysium bosses a few times. It's just so enjoyable to see what different builds you end up with and how that affects your strategy.
I certainly didn't recommend it, but I second your thanks to them. You description intrigued me so I checked on Steam on a whim and found it was released on PC. It's on the wishlist (I'm starting to see the light on my steam backlog) and I'll probably get it during the summer sale (whether or not it's actually discounted).

It's now on everything thing. It was even on gamepass for a while. The PC version does look the best, but it runs flawlessly on every platform. Supergiant really hit it out of the ballpark with Hades. They're currently making a Hades sequel. I have high hopes for the game, but I am bummed out that Zagrious isn't returning as the protagonist.

I'm such an idiot PC gamer. I played through the Master Chief collection using keyboard and mouse last winter. It wasn't until this spring when I was playing through the Batman Arkham series that I discovered I could use my wife's PS4 controller. Ended up buying my own Xbox controller so I don't have to steal hers but dang it's nice being able to use one again in certain games.

Lots of positive posts about the Steam deck so I figure balance is needed. I've had mine since about when it was originally sold and have used it a grand total of maybe 2 hours lol. The thing lives in its case in a closet not 15 feet away from the gaming PC I play games on. Complete waste of money for me.
I think that's just it though, you have a gaming PC that I assume can play a great many of the games that the Steam can. At that point, the only value is that it is portable.

The biggest reason I enjoy the deck is that my house is small and my gaming PC is hooked up to the TV in the living room. So if I boot up a game my son will hear it even if he's in bed and he'll want to watch me play.

With the Deck I can just throw headphones on and play in bed or the couch if I wanna

So a buddy and I play Star Citizen...I know, I know the game will never actually launch in my lifetime. I've heard the joke....plenty of times over the years.

Anyways, they had a live event this weekend and as with all the big weekend events when thousands of people flood the servers, which are normally sparsely populated due to it being development still, issues can arise. This particular issue involved the program that causes everyone's space ships to spawn in the hangers. So everybody, myself included, was stuck on whichever planet/space station they last logged out of and couldn't leave. They could only partake of whatever what happening on that particular planet/space station.

My buddy on the other hand, logs out in deep space, so when he logged back in, he was still in his ship. So he flew to pick me and his wife up and then we just slowly flew back and forth outside the hanger windows trolling everyone inside who couldn't get a ship to spawn.

It's dawned on me that since I've become a PC gamer, I do a lot of trollish things.

Well...technically you can still throw the headphones on and just mute your TV... just sayin'!

I played Hades earlier this year and wrote it up here.

Bastion and Transistor are similar games by the same developers before they did Hades, they're also worth checking out.

Oh shit they made Bastion? No wonder I love Hades. Bastion was one of my favorites of the genre back when I played a lot more videos games. I played the shit out of it in 2011. Probably 72+ hours total.

I can finally change my answer on this to yes. Massive game, no shortage of fun things to do.
I'm still taking my time, but nearly to my final boss before taking on Ganondorf. Absolutely love the game! (though I might work on overclocking my switch for the next go round)

Just finished TotK. Phenomenal game. I didn't do every shine and I'm sure I missed a few side quests, but I took my time and got all the sages. I did save scum, while also using some totally legal and definitely not at all bought from Amazon 3 party amiibo card clones to get the Hero of time armor. So I could look like Link from Ocarina of Time to beat the final boss. I also used the duplication glitch to get all the Star Gems I needed to level up the armor because farming those things are a pain in the ass.

I'm still in awe of how well it runs on such dated hardware. Makes me wonder what the f*** if wrong with game freak. Why did their world run and look like shit, when they're game is turn based? In TotK you don't see 2fps wing flaps if you're more than 15 feet from an enemy. In TotK I was very surprised about the draw distance and movement fluidity of far away enemies. In Pokemon we got this bullshit.

It's one of the original one. Not quite a day one, but a few months after launch.
Hmm… wonder if mine has thermal issues. I’m getting framerate drops in a number of the towns that are rather annoying. Not gamebreaking just annoying. I’ve read the 2019+ models are performing better and that hacking and overclocking memory solves 99% of the issue on the early ones.

I didn't know such problems existed. But I have been avoiding pretty much anything about the games to avoid spoilers. While I played, I don't recall any frame drops in any of the towns. The game did pause for about 2 seconds while diving into the depths sometimes, but I think that was the game just needing a moment to load the new area. I should also note that I played exclusively in docked mode.

Eventually when I get the urge to play again (Maybe when DLC comes out) I wanna play it on a PC switch emulator. Looking at some gameplay of emulated switch games has me excited to play it in 4K resolution one day. I'm sure some modders will also make some cool stuff for it as well.

I get it really in the towns when using ultra hand the most. It doesn’t break things for me, but an improvement would be nice. I might give hacking the switch a try when I finish and don’t have to worry about my ruining any saves. It doesn’t seem hard on the early switches. If I could overclock a touch and lock solid at 30fps… it’d be good enough for me.

@sethro109 I actually just started SoulSilver the other day and it is brilliant (my first time playing it since playing the OG Silver/Gold when I was like 8 years old or something). GameFreak has never once worked with graphics higher than 8-16bit so it is no surprise their games suffer a ton on the Switch. What we truly need is the RDRII Rockstar team to make an open-world Pokemon game, now that would be dope.

I haven't played any Pokemon game for the Switch, but I heard from my friends that the LetsGoSeries was solid even if the concept missed the mark of what makes a Pokemon game suitable. The Sword/Shield was another good game, but pretty dull for a Pokemon game. I saw and played some of the Diamond/Pearl remakes and loved that they returned to the traditional view (though that angered many fans and why it is not considered good). Nobody I know is currently playing Scarlet/Violet and I guess last but not least the best one so far is Arceus with an exciting concept, still again, nobody I know is playing/played it so there is something preventing it from being a classic. What really happened I think is that GameFreak ran out of ideas, but still have to make games to milk the series for a Nintendo cash grab.

I actually enjoyed Arceus more than Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet. The world and concept made it very fun. But they changed the combat mechanics too much from the core games and really held it back. It was overly simplified and just feels hallow.

The diamond and pearl remakes ran like shit on the switch and was stupidly easy. But thanks to the modding community, there's are fantastic mod for Brilliant Diamond called Luminescent Platinum that runs on Ryujinx (a switch emulator) for PC that enhances everything about the game. It runs at a smooth 60FPS and up significantly ups the difficulty while also adding a level cap so you can't just plow through areas and gyms by being over leveled. I've been having a blast with it lately.
