You might find a taker for a mid pick with 50% retention. There’s zero market for a 3rd liner making 4.75m with zero defensive game.

I guess Olofssons value is tricky since his value for a team is very dependent on the rest of the roster. On a well centered team that lacks scoring capacity he might be a gem, in a team in which he needs to fill a two-way role he is basically gravel.
He's been pretty good offensively and pretty bad defensively for most of his NHL career. The Sabres were a bad defensive team this past year but although still bad, I don't know if he's as horrible as he was this season. It would be selling a little low but he could end up the 13th or 14th next year on the young Sabres team. For that, Sabre fans are fine with a bucket of pucks.

He did his best work with Eichel that drew in defenders and could find VO in a comfy spot to get his shot off with time. I guess that's probably when I would do my best work too. Elite shot, good passer, not a driver and won't get the puck back from the other team. Pretty invisible in the other 2 zones.

I agree 💯 but what's weird is when he had his wrist injury 2 seasons ago and couldn't shoot for half a season he played great defensively but this year when healthy was invisible for much of the season but still manged 28 goals.A team who needs a PP specialist and a C who will set him up like you mentioned in Eichel.50% retention for a 3rd is my guess

Probably a late 2nd but I am not sure you get that. Trade him for a 6th defender and be done with it.

He scored a bunch of goals at ES too. He’s just not a play driver, but he can finish if someone else is setting the table.

I think he's "worth" a 2nd in the abstract.

But I have no idea what the market is going to be this summer with so many teams up against the cap. I could see a deal where he returns a decent, cheap grinder + a 3rd or 4th.

With a caphit of 4.740M he is producing where he should be but has only 1 year remaining.

You might get a 2nd at the draft if you retain salary. Ir a 3rd straight up.

Would definitely prefer a hard nosed player but maybe Olffson-Mathews-Marner would be a good line.

Could he fetch a late first.
Maybe after his 19-20 season but teams can see what type of player he is and at this point he is almost a salary dump.

If Savoie or Kulich make the team there really isn't a spot for Olofsson. At 1/2 retention, I think some time will offer a 2nd.

If Savoie is ready, VO shouldn't be the reason he goes back to Juniors.
Pretty much this and I'm not sure if Savoie is ready yet.

Kulich they might let ripen in the AHL for part of next year then bring him up.
