Blake Out of Hell III: Back in to Hell
Just as I thought....not week to week
Well, they aren't totally lying. He's just 8 week to weeks.
Just as I thought....not week to week
Quick is still in the process of visiting with doctors to decide the best course of action of how to recover from his injury. Right now, no decision on how to proceed has been made, but Lombardi expressed the desire to have that decision made expeditiously so that it’s not “weeks,†as he said, before there’s any consensus or executive decision on how to proceed.
So if it's a strain it could be a couple weeks, if it's a tear what do those take 6 weeks+.
Then the decision is to trade assets for a better backup or effectively tank it this season.

That sounds like they're considering surgery to me.![]()
Not much Lombardi can do. Unless Quick is out for the year, can't put him on LTIR to use the cap space, since you have to account for it when he comes back. Any deal made for any goalie, whether out for the year or back in a few months, would right now be working from a position of weakness. Just have to go with what you've got, and see how it plays out. If Zatkoff has the team going good, it's all good. If things go downhill, just let it go. Can't afford any more desperation moves.
$11m on IR with Quick and Gaborik. $6m in Brown. The Kings are working with a $56m cap right now.

Lombardi also said surgery hasn't been decided one way or another, but it's one possibility. There are several other treatment options.
Hopefully it won't warrant that, and if it was the best recourse, they'd have opted for that.

Latest on @JonathanQuick32 Bad groin injury. Surgery a real possibility. @LAKings looking at 3 to 4 months w/o #1 goalie.

if Zats and Budaj can't get it done, what options are out there? Berube/Greiss from NYI? Kuemper from Min? Neuverth from philly?
Acquiring a goaltender would be incredibly stupid regardless of what it cost. Just roll with what you've got and pick in the middle 10 at the draft.
The Kings sure could use Kyle Connor right about now.

Ouch! That still hurts.
And as much as I agree with you, I'd stay the course, steer the ship thru the storm. But if Lombardi feels this team can compete in the conference and potentiall go deep, as he's done over the last 2 years, he'll make a trade.
Now I think he's learned his lesson (at least I hope he has) that sacrificing youth and draft picks for a quick fix rarely works. But this question was posed to Bob McKenzie on the debut of his new podcast The Bobcast (takes questions from fans every other Friday ) and he felt since this will be months not weeks, if DL could get a low risk, low cost temporary acquisition for this year only, that would be an upgrade in the starter position, he'll do it. He felt the a guy like Pavelec would work because he's on the last yr of his deal and the Jets don't want to pay him 4M to be in the AHL. Also felt it wouldn't cost much at all.
