No, they’ll LTIRetire and Vegas will regain that cap space and continue to trade picks and prospects for the present day for an eternity lol
They're not gonna have any picks or prospects. They got their first this year, their second next year and their second the year after.

Wow. You gotta give it to Vegas. The know how to play the game. I don’t like that this loophole is available, but I can’t blame them for taking advantage of it. I’d want my team to do the same.

Nah. It’s 1.38, and they’re not going to be competitive most of those years. Keeping Hertl around at 8+ limits their ability to make moves far more. I’m surprised they were able to get this much.
It's like 6 years, no?

For all we know they draft Celebrini, he's an instant star, one of their current prospects turns into a star too, and they are looking at contending in 3 years. Rebuilds can be sped up by how well the results are. To have that 1.38M in dead money that you know is there is tough.

I would honestly think that Hertl costs 1st+Edstrom. The rest of that trade is not very attractive, and would not have me retaining into a year I might need the space.

What is Grier thinking? Hertl at $6.7M or whatever it is is an absolute steal and he only got back the equivalent of two late firsts and then threw in two 3rd rd picks of his own in the deal!!??

Not to mention all his retention slots are now gone.
