Of all the young players Edmonton has given up on I can't recall a single one that has pissed a drop on another team. Not like the days of losing Miroslov Satan and

1. Ethan Bear
2. Yamamoto
4. Lagesson
5. PUljujarvi
6. Caleb Jones

Jury is out on.
1. Reid Schaffer - Young, still lots of deliberation
2. Kesselring - I hear he's done quite will for himself in Arizona so maybe him?
3. Holloway - I'm really interested to see how he does with a much weaker forward depth team. Unique circumstance though.
4. Broberg - Another player I'm interested to see for obvious reasons. Unique circumstance though.
5. Bourgault - I'd be surprised if he amounts to anything in the NHL.

This list is more of a shot at Edmonton's piss poor drafting and development. They've sucked balls at it for the last 20 years.
We produce shit.. you should stay away from our young players haha.
I really can't argue any of this.lol

We used to rush them and ruin them.. then we overipened them and ruined them. Yak, MPS, Schremp, Omark - yeah, we really do have a lot of misses.

Always looked like a lazy mfer to me but maybe he's finally got his head on straight if he had a good camp. Tough to break into this league with heavy boots.

He had an okay camp but he was hampered by an injury towards the end of it.

I remember some beat writers in Montreal being really high on this kid trying to get the Habs to pick him at 15 because he speaks French. Glad we went with Caufield.

RNH - McDavid - Hyman
Skinner - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Janmark- Henrique - Brown
Podkolzin - Ryan - Perry

That bottom 6 is complete ass, slow and amongst the bottom 5 in the league, and the 2nd line is going to get ventilated defensively. Draisaitl had a negative plus-minus the year he won the art ross! That first line is scary though.
As a neutral fan how drunk are you to call that third line slow? Ventilated?

This is basically how Vegas is gonna have to operate for the next couple years. Guys like Holtz and Savoie and Olafsson for pennies on the dollar instead of just making it rain on other teams with picks and prospects. The equivalent of spending your entire paycheck at the stripclub on the Friday night and eating ramen for the next 13 days.

Well you could have had them both! Tbh most Oiler fans figured the Habs would nab him

I wonder if Raph will actually hit the ice for the Knights or if they try him out as a 13th forward in practices

That line is not slow, granted. However it has 2 players who each had 12 points in 71 games last season. For a 3rd line , that is absolutely shit and not up for debate

0 context and a terrible evaluation. Brown was coming off ACL surgery, calling him a 12 point player is lazy or disingenuous. You saw the type of player he is in the playoffs.

They usually don't insert waiver pickups into the lineup right away. It's more to do with having 3 SPC slots (before ZAR was claimed) and being desperate for a winger & a C in the system over 22 years of age.

Wouldn't be surprised if they claimed another player & tried to sneak Schwindt to Henderson on waivers.

He just turned 24 two weeks ago. Drafted 38th overall by the Oilers in 2019. Oilers mgmt doing a great job cleaning out their young prospect cupboard. Probably just figured, due to his young age, he just wasn't a good fit in the locker room. 40 year old Perry just couldn't relate to him.
I guess we will see if the oilers Valimaki themselves with this move. Probably won't be able to shoot themselves in the foot at the Flames level but we will see.:laugh::laugh:

Wouldn't you say this is more of an "aging out" than a "cleaning out"? Once they are waiver eligible, they aren't exactly prospects. They're guys who have made it, guys who haven't, and a very small number of guys like Lavoie who still might make it somewhere, but didn't get a shot.

I do actually agree with this criticism. It's why I hoped the Oilers could build a third scoring line around Henrique, Kane and Savoie/Lavoie (or a vet like Hoffman) while deploying Janmark + Brown on a more defensively oriented fourth line. However with Kane on LTIR and Savoie + Hoffman not making the cut (oh, and Lavoie now gone) that dream is pretty much crushed until the playoffs.

We'll see what happens but I would not be shocked if the team regrets not keeping scoring winger depth around for this exact reason sooner rather than later.

Lavoie, Broberg, Holloway, McLeod lost and replaced with busts in Ebenstrom and 4th liner at best Podkolzin 🤣
I sure do like Oilers new GM, worst than even Holland. Take a bow Bowman

They need more old guys like Perry to win the cup. I heard Todd Bertuzzi might come out of retirement. Would be a perfect fit for Oilers
Who the f*** is Ebenstrom?

It's also amusing that you're one of those goombas who constantly shits on the Oilers for being a one man show, and are now shitting on them for moving on from players who you've consistently ragged on in the past for not being good.

Like, which is it? Can you even breathe with your head lodged up there?

He probably had his best camp but outside of having a good shot he really hadn't shown enough that he could be an effective bottom 6 forward. Maybe with the right opportunity who knows but unlike a player like Noah Philp he didn't show enough of a toolbox to really earn a spot on the team. Philp got sent down but I am sure he will be back on the Oilers soon.

It's insane that the Oilers ever drafted Broberg, Holloway, Lavoie and Bourgault in the first place. Those draft picks should have been spent on improving the NHL roster in order to win a Cup while you have the two best players in the league making a combined 20M.

Agreed. Holland’s cautious approach was baffling. He’s the first GM I can recall who hoarded draft picks when the window was wide open. And the worst part is that all of those draft picks ended up leaving for nothing.
