The QC
GMs are very quiet usually and only hold quarterly conferences at most, sometimes nothing until the trade deadline. The Matthews news was probably something he wanted to get infront of because it likely would have leaked and caused a bigger thing.
One of the insiders got the info, went to him to give him the chance to get out ahead of it.

The dreaded 7:30 game. :thumbd:
There are SO many of them this season! More to come... gross.

It's definitely helpful that we don't have Reaves in to kill the 4th line, but I'd still rather see Minten in a real role, and it's not like we have an abundance of options at center right now. Now is the exact time we should be testing stuff. Try Nylander at center (as somebody who doesn't even like that). Give Robertson actual minutes with a real player. Try out Minten and Steeves in top-9 roles, and test their chemistry together in the NHL. Lorentz and Dewar should really never play anything other than 4th line, and Holmberg has really struggled in a top 9 role this year.
Reaves has to have played his last game
There's no value having him around.

If Robertson doesn't show up and score goals now, this dude needs to be gone.

There's never gonna be a better time to showcase yourself than now with so many forward injuries. This is the opportunity you wanted over the summer. Go show it

Atleast get that trade value up

Maybe because the Leafs are shorthanded, but otherwise I'm not sure this game would be any more of a test than any other game. Vegas is pretty mediocre on the road, and their goaltending hasn't been good. They've been propped up by a good power play.
Yup. Considering how often we've lost to poor teams over the last few years, every game is "a test".

I like getting ahead of myself, that way I know how far off I was when I'm behind myself ...

The Hound line.

Oct. 10, 1985 - Hound Line Debuts - Toronto Maple Leafs Centennial Timeline

Hound Line Debuts

During the 1985-86 season, the famous Hound Line would skate for the first time.
Comprised of Gary Leeman, Russ Courtnall and Wendel Clark, they earned the name, as all three had once played for the Notre Dame Hounds of Wilcox Saskatchewan.

Minton was not given any time to work into the lineup. Instead, he was thrown right into the fire on a line by Steeves and Grebenkin. He was also put on top of the power play unit. As you might expect from a player who hadn’t played since mid-September, Minton’s timing was a little off early in the first game. However, the Minton/Steeves/Grebenkin line was dominant in game #2. Minton was impressive in the second game in how he skated with the puck and his shot. He could have easily had a goal or two. He rang one shot off the post and missed the net, another glorious chance.

Jets beat Florida 6-3 tonight, which means 1st place is on the line tomorrow.

If they need extra motivation there it is.

If they want 1st place win tomorrow and take it.
They'll have it for a night, until Florida likely takes it back the next night against Chicago. But it won't matter. I think Florida will sleepwalk through a large part of the season and quite happily take second place in the division. I expect the Leafs to win the division by a pretty significant margin and play a team like Washington in the first round.

Pretty sure that would be the latest we’ve been in first place in our division for this generation, no?

Yeah Florida should smash Chicago, However I thought both Boston and Toronto would do the same to Columbus.

That didn't happen.

I also thought Pittsburgh could hold a multi goal 3rd period lead tonight but no, no no.

They couldn't.

Things happen.

It will all come out in the wash. By the end of the season, I think the Leafs will win the division by 7 or 8 points.

Nice to see Minten even if he's probably getting 12 minutes max and is paired with Nicky Bobby and Holmberg, two guys who are really good at looking like they're gonna do something without actually doing something. One of them has to be gone as soon as Jarnkrok gets back.

Kampf makes 2.4x4, he's worth one of those numbers but not both, 2.4x2 or 1.75x4 is much better.

I'm starting to get a little concerned about Matthews, but the team is rolling with a winning record so let it ride. Vegas is a new team and a team we don't see much of so it's hard to get a read on this one.

Jarnkrok is fine but he isn’t someone worth mentioning though would love an upgrade on him
