If the building is big enough to host the team's games, it's big enough to host the draft.

They could just put the teams management back stage in some conference room if they have one in the sphere and walk over to the stage for the announcement.

Or they can go the NFL/NBA route and have the commissioner announce the draft picks. I feel having management go up on stage for each pick really slows down the draft.

I doubt there are 32+ dressing rooms with 900 sf space each. Besides, no opportunities to see team x gm talk with team y gm. And announcements from stage/podium only 1st round

The one downfall of hosting there is there are only like 200 parking spaces at the property. Would require hike from other parking structures.

Discussions continue to hold draft at LV Sphere. Will be expensive (perhaps not so much the venue as all the video that needs to be gathered/generated).

If Vegas is hosting the draft it should be in the MSG Sphere but that won't happen unfortunately. Too much of a new cash cow to host a draft that cant sell tickets for hundreds of dollars.

I would love to go but it's a bit too far from Sweden to attend the draft.
It will be interesting to see how they integrate everything inside the Sphere. The centralized NHL Draft atleast goes out with a bang.

NFL has a central location where players/families and fans are. Players are announced by someone associated with team at podium (even after 1st round).

Similar to WNBA and PWHL drafts. (Haven't seen NBA nor MLB drafts)


It is possible that something similar is organized for NHL with GM, scouts, etc., at home/central location.

If the league pushes schedule out until late June, it would be helpful for teams to not have to travel to/from draft location before free agency.

(Saw a tweet that some teams have decided to hunker down in Las Vegas after the draft for free agency opening due to travel. No team(s) identified in that tweet.)

They can still have it there. Draft isn't really changing from the fan's perspective with decentralization.
