At some point here Vegas is going to need to start developing their own players that they drafted, right? They can't continue to just subsist on UFAs and trades....at some point this is all going to catch up with them.
Why? It’s working for them, they’re on the cusp of a cup and have been in the mix every season. They’ve built a really strong team who cares if it’s not “Muh home grown core”?

It's not. They're taking advantage of their expansion draft where teams threw draft picks at them to take certain players. It's like joining a better site where they give up like 100 free chips to start. It's a one time deal and now they're left with few prospects and few picks not to mention an already aging roster. If they don't win a cup this year or maybe next this franchise is going to be broken for years to come.

Not surprised at all. MAF rejected a trade to Washington. Sounds like he will only go to pitt and Vegas and perhaps one more team. Could it be Colorado?

They’ll be fine.

I feel like the more Vegas behaves like a video game, the more they lose the secret sauce that made the original version of that team so good.

They're pretty consistently ranked around 17-22 in prospect rankings, not terribly high but not the worst, especially for a contending team year after year.

The only rounds they don't have picks are this year's first and fourth (but an extra fifth) and next year's second (but an extra third)

The first five drafts they've had a first and second round pick every year apart from 2018 (no first but Morozov looks decent as a second) and 2020 (no second but Cormier looks decent as a third)

If i was Fleury id much rather go to a team thats just gonna sneak into the playoffs and have the opportunity to stick it to Vegas and upset them. I would be insulted honestly if they asked for me back... But I've beem called spiteful once or twice.

They had 3 firsts and 2 seconds their first year, which they've turned into Stone and Patches (Glass flamed out and I'm not sold on Lesch). They had no '18 first, traded their first round pick in 2019 (Krebs) and didn't have a 2nd last year. If Brisson and Cotter don't turn into stars they're in trouble.

If they can get away with LTIRing Lehner and Stone until the playoffs
Dumping Broissont+ for Fluery at 50%
Dumping Dadonov somewhere
And roll into the playoffs with:

Pacioretty - Eichel - Stone
Marchessault - Karlsson - Smith
Carrier - Stephenson - Patrick
xxxx - Roy - Kolesar

Martinez - Pietrangelo
Hague - Theodore
McNabb - Whitecloud

Fleury
Lehner

then idk man. they gotta be favorites.
They cant trade for a retained Fleury.

If we mention the first rounders they've traded from those drafts we have to talk about the ones they brought in.

They've brought in Howden, who's looked very good in Vegas, and Patrick, who still looks like something can be there health withstanding.

The forward prospects they're most excited about aren't Leschyshyn and Cotter, it's Brisson, Dean, Morozov, Dorofeyev, Rondbjerg, Dugan and Hallum probably.
Eichel, Roy, Patrick and Howden are already NHLers and still young. Karlsson and Stephenson aren't exactly old.

They're excited about Cormier, Chayka, Korczak, Miromanov on defense while Theodore, Hague and Whitecloud are still young.

In goal, they're excited about Thompson and still working on Saville and Patera, Vikman and Lindbom are still in the very early stages. You don't know with goalies though.

All this is not to say they definitely won't take a step back in 3-4 years, especially with Stone's back issue and an aging Pietrangelo, but they aren't barren for the future.

So this reporter jumped the shark. Vegas GM immediately came out and put a ax in this story and any MAF reunion lol. MAF did open the door today by saying he loves chicago and if traded it would have to be a bona-fide contender if he decides or chicago Decides to move him but he also said he would love to play next year in Chicago on a 1 year deal. So as of right now Washington made a full court press to get MAF

I would think when Vegas gets Giroux and Fleury they should be close to complete
