I thought this and then Colorado had both goalies implode and went 16-4 in the playoffs.

To be fair Colorado skaters were probably the second best to Detroit in 08 in terms of cup winning teams post-cap. They were a unicorn. It's unfair to expect our skaters to be able to carry the load like that for any team really.

if the rest of your team can play, it masks your goalie issues and vice versa

the problem as of late this season is we don’t have the team backing up the goalie’s poor play or the goalie backing up the team’s good play. we either win big or lose big. early on in the season we had some really close, tight games we nanaged to win, but lattely we either win big or lose big without one being able to balance out the other if one isn’t doing well. that’s the key to at least finding ways to win, and lately we’ve been atrocious with that

I have to be honest, I thought he was just having a bad stretch recently. Shesterkin that is.
he was. snowblind likes to overexaggerate how bad igor is. this has been by far his worst season/worst stretch. he wasn’t anywhere close to this bad any other season. he’s had bad stretches just like this in previous seasons but this stretch has gone on for quite a while, with a handful of really good starts sprinkled in.

But Sorokin has been great every season. Shesterkin had a fluke year and a good start to his career. Other than that he's been slightly above average or bad.

Dude... WTF are you talking about? Talking up Sorokin over Igor? Igor one fluke season??

I mean, I'm the first person to remind people that Lundqvist was a sub 0.920 goalie 3 of his first 4 (or is it 4 of his first 5?) seasons and Igor's stats were in the 0.915 range which isn't THAT bad. That said he sucked last year and then went on a prolonged good run to bump up his save percentage. This season he's had a few stretches where I thought he might have fixed himself mentally. Like the last two games. But then he just has a terrible game every damn time when he strings together a few good games.

Looks like we better get used to it.

I just looked at the Vezina list. Only one of the last 12 has been a repeat. Igor may have already shot his load, if you will.

He was awful last year until like February. Not quite this bad but pretty bad. Then he righted the ship. A few times (like the last two games) I thought he was going to do that again. But nope, he just shits himself the next game.

After Lav the goalie get fired tonight, I want him hired as our coach.

I need this for multiple reasons.

Ok, I'll be honest, I thought Sorokin had three 0.920+ seasons. But if you look at Igor's full seasons outside of one season he's been at best just a bit better than average. Last season he was horseshit until the end of the season. This season I'm not expecting the same miracle. Will probably hover around 0.900. He's Georgiev with one fluke season.
