Just out of curiosity - why haven't the fans outright revolted against the ownership? Seriously - the team is a business to Wang. Stop buying the product until the product improves. What's the worst that could happen? Wang sells the team to someone who actually does care but is equally incompetant?

I really feel for you guys. Just the same, there is no arguing that you aren't a very loyal group of fans to put up with this time and time again.

Good luck moving forward!

I've gone to one game all year and it was a 5-0 drubbing by Detroit so obviously I'm not returning for awhile.

So, in the end taking Vanek out of the equation we sent:

A great 1st round pick this year, or ? 1st round pick next year
Plus a second round pick
Plus Moulson

- for -

A second round pick
Middling prospect who isn't even 6' tall.

Result: Epic failure.

I agree with those questioning the role of Wang in not being willing to retain salary, but in the end this is the final straw for me where it comes to Garth. You can count me in the pool of people who consider Snow a bad GM. Between the Nino thing which he is 50% responsible for, and this complete misjudging of where the team was, and the failure to add goaltending or defense - only adding Regin and Bouchard, keeping the coaching staff... I think you can call every big move Garth made since the summer a complete and total failure. I am utterly disgusted, and as a fence sitter for so long I have to wonder how anyone who was also fence sitting can be so after this.

Reading about Collberg I just want to vomit. He's not much of a prospect, and he is a small but fast wimp. I want him dealt for anything, even a 5th round pick at the draft simply out of my disgust right now. Enough with the long shot garbage pickups.

Collberg is a good prospect, i don't understand all the hate on him. The problem is he's all we got for Vanek so Snow completely messed this up. Just because Collberg's under 6 foot doesn't make him a bad prospect. He has elite offensive skills so I look forward to him at Bridgeport next year.

But the real issue is Snow's complete miss handling of our assets and leading us to constant failure. He needs to be sacked along with Cappy this summer to let a new guy come in and attempt to put the pieces together again.

Snow really is an idiot.

Well, that was fun!

Just another day in Islanders country.

Clearly today there was no market for Vanek, given his pending UFA status + cheaper alternatives. Kesler being teased by Vancouver didn't help either because that kept by some accounts 6 teams occupied going after him, including the Pens who seemed to go hard. Kesler with another 2 years on his contract and a much better all around player was the prize, not Vanek.

Snow's options were clearly limited, so I don't know what we could have expected. Something more than this, obviously. Not even an NHL-ready project like Eller to show for it.

This team should be stockpiling young, talented players around JT while he is entering his prime, not more draft picks and longshot prospects. Guys like Strome, Nelson, DeHaan are great to look forward to, but the process needs to be sped up or you waste you franchise player's best years. The lack of movement on shoring up the D and G positions was bad. The fact this team will not spend money compounds the problem.

I didn't and don't have a problem with the original trade to get Vanek, but giving up that 1st rounder to BUF is going to be painful. Today is just another in a long line of frustrations with this organization.

Scott you seem awfully calm.

See my prior posts. I said after hearing about the 5th, It's bad enough we got brutally (rhymes with graped), we have to give up a 5th too ?. And prior to that post I gave my feelings about Snow. BUT, considering I expected Snow to screw it up even further, and for us to get stuck with Vanek, I'm happy we got SOMETHING. Gonna have to root for the Canadiens to make the playoffs now. But with a backup goalie as our GM, I expected this. Snow is above average draft wise, but he's ALWAYS been terrible trade wise.

So much irony, Moulson return is better and he went to Minn, where Vanek will likely end up

oh come on. colberg and a 2nd is better than 2 seconds, especially when its not a 2015 2nd and they took back a salary dump too

I don't think the hate is for Collberg. It's just his status as a longshot prospect. The Islanders need(ed) a player who was further along in development and Collberg represents an asset that might - might - pan out in 3-4 years time. People are tired of waiting.

You can't take Vanek out and leave Moulson in (both UFA's) in this analysis.

Yeah I mean Sidney Crosby is under 6 feet too.

But I understand the frustration...after such a disastrous year I can't expect even the most rational of us to keep calm.

If Snow could get a better deal he would have. He took a risk...we got a loss...or maybe not....we have to see how Collberg pans out.

We got a 2nd round pick and the Swedish Josh Bailey. Fantastic!

Now Snow can use that pick to draft another jackass that went to U. of Maine. Lets go Islanders!

What, doesn't Waterloo have any more players to draft?

Collberg got a long way ahead of him to reach the NHL, but the potential is there, he just need to put it all together. Glad he got out of Montreal, think Islanders might be the perfect destination for him to develop into an NHLer. Will most likely make the jump to NA in the summer, that was the plan when Montreal had his rights at least. Had good chemistry with Sundström when they played together in Frölunda.

so Moulson a 15' 1st and 2nd for 2nd and Collberg

Man I am angry as well!! There HAS to be some accountability! and the trade to get Vanek was nuts then its just sad that is all that could be fetched for Vanek. Murray is probably laughing his ass off.

Will Snow or Wang do a press conference?
