Sounds like a deal the Oilers would have made during The Decade Of Darkness, then they’d turn around and draft mostly busts with the extra picks!!

Suggested this in another thread, but would something like this make sense for MIN + VAN?

15th pick + Boeser (extended @ 6-6.5ish) for Fiala (extended @7+) + MIN 1st (24th-27th)

Idea being that an extended Boeser will be less cap than an extended Fiala, add a right shot to MIN's top 6, move them up in the draft due to the difference in player value, and give VAN a top LW that perhaps fits better? If VAN clears other cap space, which it sounds like they will, they should be able to afford the Fiala extension at the cost of Boeser's.

I don't think it's a ridiculous idea, but I think Minnesota's already got their Fiala replacement lined up in Rossi. I'm sure they hope he'll pan out at center instead of sticking at wing, but either way I don't think they're really going to be looking for a somewhat cheaper version of Fiala. They'll want space and futures.

I kind of wonder if Vancouver wouldn't want the same for Boeser, if they decide to trade him.

At first glance, I don't see anyone at #15 that really stands out compared to what may be available at #24 or even #33. There is always chance that a player drops unexpectedly as was the case with Caufield or perhaps you want to take a flyer on a player like Miroshnichenko. It would be something possibly done on draft day then.
