I'd say it's close. Miller might be worth slightly more than Dumba but with Boeser's new contract coming up, I think the 1st is move valuable than him.

Doesn't help us with our Fiala situation, and I'm not a big fan of Scheifele's contract expiring at 31/32 years old and in the midst of the bad years of the buyouts.

Miller being only slightly more valuable than Dumba is a completely absurd statement. Looking at the 1sts being traded in the most recent deadline, I don’t see how Boeser isn’t worth a mid late round 1st..

I don't believe that after 1 career season for Miller that he is now worth much more than Scheifele. And HF can spare the defense narrative on Scheifele. He's on pace for his 6th straight season of a point per game and now people want to single out his defense. It's poor, but hasn't always been and the coaching staff has been abysmal. Scheifele also has an extra year on his deal. At worse they are a wash. Increasingly unpopular is not true, the narrative for Scheifele is that with him and Wheeler (and Hellebucyk) having contracts coming up that it might be time to re-build around a younger group of players.

And now the Jets are also trading their other top 6 C who is much younger than any piece they get back.

Pionk also has 3 years left on his contract and Dumba 1. Boeser also needs a new deal and it's obvious the Canucks don't want to pay it because they know he won't be worth it.

So the Jets are losing 2 top 6 C's, and getting 1 back who also needs a new deal and lose their young top 6 C for really no gain. They have to give Boeser a new deal which won't be a good use of cap space, and also have to give new deals for Miller and Dumba.

Altogether stupid for Winnipeg.

How about 3 career seasons? Considering, you know, it hasn't just been this year.

Not that I think the Jets should do this trade but come on, to call this season an outlier proves you couldn't even be bothered to do even a modicum of research.

Just to double check, this trade would have us trading away our #1 and #2C, and replace them with one center who is signed for exactly one more year before hitting UFA?

Exactly, one of the worse thought out trades I’ve seen in a while……& that’s saying something.

Taking out how absurdly awful the return is for Winnipeg, is there even ANY scenario where they drop both Scheifele and Dubois in one trade? That would be tough to sell to fans and seemingly completely random.

At best, Miller and Scheifele is a wash but Miller has one less year on his contract. Dumba also needs a new contract, and is similar to Pionk. Dubois goes out the door and an overpaid winger who needs a contract comes in. Makes no sense for the Jets.

Miller has had 3 career seasons? I didn't say he's not a good player, and had other good years. I didn't say this was his only good season. But this is the best season of his career, unless you think a different year was better than this one?

Cool that J.T. Miller is having a great year, but Scheifele is better than Miller, Dubois is better than Boeser (and way more valuable) and Pionk and Dumba are a wash. Don't understand why we would downgrade our team and we don't even save any money or get picks/prospects.

No, you didn't say he wasn't a good player but you absolutely insinuated that this year was an outlier, he has 204 point in 194 games as a Canuck.

You don’t need to read any further than PLD who at this point is definitely off limits.
I’d agree he’s not getting moved. I don’t think he’s in the total untouchable catagory though. Just would take something quite substantial that’s very unlikely to happen. Up and coming possible 1D and and young 2C might do it but don’t see that happening.

I would still say this year is an outlier though. And it's not saying he's been good this year and bad the other 2 years. His scoring is up more this year comparatively. He's literally never had a season with this high of a ppg average. Hopefully he does this for many more seasons.

(ppg)
2019 - 1.04
2020 - .86
2021 - 1.19

overall NHL - .70

You're looking for a slight where there is none IMO. My point is that Miller's most recent season doesn't all of a sudden make him a more valuable asset than Scheifele, especially with Scheifele's extra year on his contract. At best they're a wash.

So with Miller and Scheifele a wash at best, Pionk and Dumba being a wash at best and maybe worse for the Jets considering contracts, it leaves PLD for Boeser, which is not happening for Winnipeg.
