I hate how NHL does the records of the teams. 18-13-10 looks kinda ok, doesn't it? But to me, they are 18-23. I don't get it, it's so dumb. The NHL would actually officially consider them 5 games above .500. But they only won 18 of 41 games. That's not .500. The game should be about getting wins. Period.

I don’t mind the OT loses, but then a W should be three points. That or eliminate OTL altogether.

Leafs record since 2016-16 without OTL

2016-17: 40-42
2017-18: 49-33
2018-19: 46-36
2019-20: 36-34 (COVID)
2020-21: 35-21 (COVID)

2021-22: 54-28
2022-23: 50-32
2023-24: 46-36

2024-25: 27-16 (so far)

The loser point and its consequences have been a disaster for society, teams playing for a point and half assing it to get to OT. There's always some team that shouldn't be there and gets smoked because they went to OT 18-20 times.

2 for a regulation win.
2 for an OT/SO.
0 for losing.

That could work.

The so called stars need to learn how to play hockey in the remaining 40 games. Make them watch video of Knies to get an idea of that it takes straight lines, stops, starts, etc and no big looping, I’m not interested enough to work hard play.
They have had 8 or 9 years to get there so ya I’m thinking the next 40 games should just about be the right number

It's point percentage, not win percentage.

18 wins x 2 pts = 36
10 OT/SO losses x 1 pt = 10
Total Points = 46
GP = 41
Max Pts = 82 (GP x 2 pts)
Pts Pct = 0.561 (46 / 82)
Win Pct = 0.439 (18 / 41)

It's what we call fake parity. Gary loves it, so you must as well (similar to regional blackouts).

Eventhough the 3 point system would not change the standing as they are, it would have a major impact as teams would play differently.

I didn't mind teams playing for OT when 3 on 3 was exciting and unpredictable and not the possession drill its become since the end of Covid.

Regulation Wins should also replace ROW in this case as a tiebreaker.
Nylander is a lost cause but it’s crept back into Marner’s game. I think he’s a little tired and will be fine in the playoffs.
