Please consider this discrepancy as a fan base, as far as the contract status goes, when offering Severson to us.

As a Nucks fan i'd say no.

To me this is Holtz for Podkolzin, in which i'd rather have Podkolzin. Then you have Severson and a 2nd for Horvat. Horvat is having one hell of a season so far, whereas Severson is having a slow start. Adding Severson at the cost of Horvat makes us worse, and a 2nd isn't enough to entice us here. We'd be better off sending Bo to NYI for Mayfield and a 1st, even that really isn't enough for us to do it.
dude has a 60% CF and thats a slow start? you do realize he's a defenseman, right?

he is an offensive mind d-man not putting up offense. having 63.9% offensive zone starts will usually help your CF% on a winning team. he has 3 takeaways and 12 giveaways, which is a bad trend. He doesn't block much and isn't overly physical. He is not off to a great start.

I don't understand, you thought a trade proposal didn't include the contracts the players are currently signed to?
Any Horvat deal almost certainly has as an extension worked out prior to going through. As a rental to a contender? Maybe. To a team like the Devils, there isn't even a conversation without an extension in place.

Still sad, CS was beloved in Van. Tough to see how his body started braking down so quickly after.
Our team wore him the hell out. He kept us from some good high draft picks! Good guy though, wish we could have been competitive for him

Severson also just slaps the puck around like he's holding a wet noodle while frantically looking around because he lost his positioning 10 s ago.

Podkolzin has had a slow start to his sophomore season, but he's shown enough for management and fans to be very excited about him. The stats don't tell the whole story on this player, I think the intent would be to hang out to him even in any sort of re-build as the thought is he is on track to develop into a 1st line two-way player.

I just think it's better to leave him out of Vancouver proposals, as he likely won't garner the value from other teams that he holds here in Vancouver.
I agree with you here. Hold him. His highest value right now is to Vancouver.

i won't, as i never proposed any severson deal.

i am team keep severson for a potential po run. i am also team don't destroy the cap flexibility until you have shown you can win in the po.

negative

the devils are building around hischier/hughes, as their top6 center duo. horvat will be too expensive for the 3rd line.

You can't get all salty because this extension was only ever mentioned by people including myself saying they wouldn't have interest in signing him as they'd be paying their 3rd line Center over 7 million a year.
Horvat and Hishier are similar in value, if they were the same age with the same contract... that just simply is not the case.

I'm not salty whatsoever. The Devils aren't going to give up the assets needed to land Horvat as a rental. They aren't going all in this year, they are not a Horvat away from competing for the cup. A team in that realm is making a deal with an extension, or not making the deal at all. If it doesn't make sense for them to do that, then it's moot point to begin with

There are a few teams like Colorado, Toronto, and a few others who could use Horvat to put them over the top this year, knowing that he is most likely gone as UFA. It would be a heavy cost for a rental though.

I truly don't understand why you're upset though, I've stated that Horvat to NJ makes no sense from the beginning.

Trades with an extension in place are very rare and usually just wishful thinking from the trading team’s fanbase. We heard all summer how Miller was going to be traded with an extension in place for a top tier return.
Well he does have an extension in place now and no trade protection until July 1st....

What would the devils give for Hughes?
i don't know, what the devils would give.

me personally: nothing, as i am not interested in collecting brothers.

quinn's biggest strength isn't an immediate need. dougie and severson are enough to quarterback the pp this season and with luke hughes, nemec and casey the devils have 3 prospects, which potentially can fill this role in the future well.
quinn obviously is also tremendous at transitioning the puck, but the devils already are one of the fastest teams in the league and excel in the rush offense. i am not sure, how much of an improvement the devils could gain there from adding quinn.
the devils still struggle the most against physical teams. adding quinn would make the line up even smaller and the devils could be as a result weaker in their own zone.

the player and picks i would comfortably give up for the expected improvement with the addition of quinn hughes, would be way off from, what vancouver would expect as a fair return. i don't see a need to place an offer for him to create the next canucks - devils trade board feud.
