Edit - feel free to add in your GM and coach!
Vancouver Canucks "all-time" line-up: Post your best line-up
Pretty sure that this has been done before, but it looks like it's been a long time.
Mods - if you see it fit, please amalgamate my post with a past thread of a similar nature.
Anyways - here would be my "all-time" Canucks roster (assume that you are trying to ice the best possible Canucks roster, from any era, and this team of yours had to play a full season).
Here's my team:
GM: Brian Burke
Coach: Pat Quinn
Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Naslund-Morrison-Bertuzzi
Gelinas-Kesler-Linden
Roussel-Malhottra-Hansen
Brashear
Erhoff-Edler
Ohlund-Salo
Hamhuis-Bieksa
Hughes
Luongo
McLean
Cliff notes:
1) Guys like Bure and Mogilny wouldn't make my team, because
A) I'm on crack.
B) Although great players, I personally like to go with "proven" line combos, and I believe that the WCE and Sedin-Sedin-Burrows combos were our two greatest scoring lines in history.
c) In a realistic scenario, Bure and Mogilny would likely request trades with 4th line ice-time.
2) Gelinas-Kesler-Linden is the absolute best two-way line that I can think of, and I think this line would absolutely crush it come playoff time. Three guys that consistently elevated their game when it mattered most.
3) Malhottra is our best face-off man in team history and I also suspect that he's Hindu like me and so he makes my team. Roussel and Hansen are and were smart players that can and could play anywhere in the line-up. The are great defensively, and can be relied upon to score key goals.
4) Brashear: A half-decent hockey player that was one of the toughest guys to ever play the game.
5) Hamhuis-Bieksa = best shut down pairing that we've ever had.
6) Erhoff-Edler = quite possibly the best defensive pairing that we've ever had.
7) I love Ohlund, and Quinn Hughes is already one of our greatest defensemen.
8) Luongo gets the nod as the #1 since he is our best goalie (sorry oldschool fans, but the stats don't lie), but good ol' Captain Kirk comes to the rescue if Luongo experiences the playoff yips.
