Well Brown gone would be a good thing.
Cap space doesn't score goals or play defense.

I hate this team's "**** the regular season" attitude.
Lol players don't think like that and try to fix the standings
Cap space doesn't score goals or play defense.
Well it certainly can be used to get a player that does....

Not sure if Brown does either.
Schenn playing 20 minutes a night, DOUGhty getting minutes chopped severely, Andreoff with Kopitar...
I'm still not worried since this isn't how life will be a week from now, but at what point does Sutter straighten up the lines and minutes in preparation?
I'm not even worried about the period ending goals since that's a focus matter that won't happen in the playoffs, but gotta start conditioning guys now.
Be cheeky if you want, but the fact remains that if Brown is off the team the day the playoffs end for the Kings, who do we get with his money? Forward or defense? Who?

I'd lock up Lucic and sign Brian Campbell. He's been a rock on the blueline and a consistent big minute dman for many years.
Campbell is a top 4 dman who can still perform at 20+ minutes. Keep an eye on the 2017 UFA market as well, y'know, in case Tampa can't retain Hedman or if Brent Burns wants to live in Venice Beach.
This is the ONLY night that Schenn has been playing 20 mins. I don't buy the argument that Doughty and the other d-men are simply being rested. People are comparing this team to the ones in 2012, 2014.. Get a grip people, look at the defense, significantly weaker than the ones in the past. Those who are not alared by this team's play of late is in denial of the fact that we're much weaker team going into the playoffs. I don't see us getting passed a hungry San Jose team with this type of play, sorry to say it.
Meh.
Game one will be a wake up call for the Kings. Always doing it the hard way.
Okay, then be my guest and look at minutes from the past several games.
The last 3 weeks, drew has been in the 24 minute range most nights. Hasn't been over 29 since March 5th. Remember that week he played over 30 literally every night, including 35 minutes once?
The other big difference is when we were more desperate and Sutter was tightening things up, the third pairing wouldn't get over 10 minutes, sometimes in the 7-8 minute range--lately, they don't fall under 14. Hell, previously, our 4th line wouldn't get more than a handful of minutes--now, most nights, NO ONE is under 10.
you can "not buy" it all you want but it's right there in plain sight.
The only thing that doesn't make sense in relation to above is that Kopitar is still getting ridden but eh.
I'm not going to pretend there aren't problems, but they're being magnified by the use of personnel (I won't let go of Sutter CHOOSING Clifford-Versteeg?-Andreoff-Schenn-Scuderi vs. Couture-Thornton-Pavelski-Burns in our zone)
What worries me is the role players struggling against crappy teams. Imagine how much worse said players will look against playoff teams.
We are not making the playoffs.
