This was fair value for the 60 point bitchy Miller, not the 100 point playoff warrior. And he's the 60 point guy this season.
6x6 would be perfect. He should be a cornerstone for a while yet and he's the perfect partner for someone like Willander coming in.
With the rising cap I'd even go 7x6.
That is my problem yesterday, this whole feud thing blowing up this year, in the same year that
both decide to stop playing because they cant stand each other. auto tanking both their values when they need to be sold. If it was kept under wraps, and Allvin traded Miller on the DL earlier, you will get 100pt playoff warrior value. Instead, the franchise has to sell their 3rd best asset at the lowest ebb of his tenure here.
But I cannot blame Allvin much. The guy has proven to be tireless, and really on top of things. Its not like he leaked the feud out, its Miller taking his LOA that caused the media to dig into the trash. I honestly blame our predatory media, I dont know how you can run a business with them blaring all the dirt out to the hockey world first sign it shows up. Mostly though, I blame EP and Miller dividing the room (remember "RIFT!!!"?) Its on both these millionaire babies, and also on Tocchet throwing his hands up with an on-paper playoff team.
I think Allvin did the best he could, and I understand the need for JR to do the Mason interview now, looking at this end result after both trades. MP is basically the only solidly top4 D that is actually available early, he has a better than good chance to resign and contribute. I'm quite high on him, and its pretty obvious how he could fit into this room from as early as last season. and if the team craters, Im sure he can be recycled into a first before TDL.
This trade is a good sign, Allvin showed that he will fix his mistakes. Batting better than .500 is not so bad. Lankinen was the best signing in the off season, Debrusk came as advertised, streaky as hell, but a good player, and Sherwood is a gem. Jury is still out on Forbot if he can stay healthy. O'Connor should be an upgrade on Heinan. That first was never meant to be kept like most of us armchair GMs wanted. Management's role with Hughes playing like a 25 year old Hart candidate is to support the captain, compete right now and keep him happy here.
As a fan of this team since the Bure days, coming out of last year thinking we are legit building up to a cup contender after the Benning years, this is an incredibly dissappointing turn of events OUT OF THE BLUE. This tarnishes both Miller's and Pettersson's legacy here for me. EP seriously better
mature, step up and return to 90+ point Selke form, or this whole saga will go down as "The most Canuck thing ever" in the history books.
