Eh fine I guess, great to ditch the deadweight you just freaking signed like yesterday in Desharnais and Heinen.

New Pettersson is a good addition to the top four, and don’t care about the Melvin. Losing the 1st sorta hurts, but was inevitable.

Hughes, Hronek and Pettersson is basically our top 3.

Myers, Soucy and Forbert covers the remaining bottom 6.

Whoever is back up will get in, except Juulsen.
Send him to the Chevron near the Langley Bypass
I always fear the "Myers effect"...he's played well as Hughes' partner for the most part, but I've been waiting for the bottom to fall out...if he can maintain that level of play, it would be huge, but thats not something I have a lot of faith in...having 4 actual top 4 defenders would certainly be nice...hoping Mancini can get a shot.

Couple of quick notes as I lay in bed and refuse to get up.

-Canucks didn’t have negotiating rights but intend on extending both Pettersson & O’Connor
-expended to start contract negotiations with them this weekend
-view Forbort and Suter as internal rentals
-don’t want to extend Boeser to 8 years but likes him and are considering their options

Depends on cost...we basically handcuffed ourselves in negotiations with him. If they don't re-sign him they're going to look pretty foolish making that trade. So I wouldn't think we're going to be seeing anything resembling a bargain contract when we ultimately re-sign him.
Projected to have 80M in cap when Quinn’s deal is up. We don’t really have that many long term deals.

Forbort and Suter aren’t worth enough to really worry about flipping. Maybe if you’re extremely lucky you get a low 2nd for Suter and Forbort is like one of those 5th round depth trades. I expect them to make offers to sign for both though.

Suter I agree. Forbort is the kind of player they’ll use up and replace next season. As another free agent or let one of their rookies take the reigns.

Depends what he costs, I’d rather have him as depth than a guy like Juulsen.

Saying Chytil is a good 2nd line centre is a pretty big reach

He’s probably our default 2C at the moment, but he’s never shown he can consistently carry that load. He’ll get the opportunity.

I wonder if the Canucks try and float something like the DeBrusk deal to Petterson. Give him the years to keep the cost down.

I don't mind paying the guy what he's due, I just get concerned about overpaying based on his leverage and for what he brings...if we're getting into the $6.5-$7.5m range, I'm not sure that's very good value for his skillset. He might fit like a glove and be everything we need and more and my concerns could be totally unwarranted...hoping so.

They didn't have an understanding of Pettersson's demand pre trade? Wow.

Man I hope they keep Boeser. Get him locked up and get more offense beyond him in the Top6. Losing him means they're looking for yet another Top6 forward.

Pay top4 top6 players what they are worth and mine value at the lower end.

If anything long term contract to bring the AAV down wouldn’t be a bad idea especially in a cap world of 110M+.

But what is he worth? With the new cap projections (which I find difficult to believe will be accurate in 2 years time) what is a reasonable contract for him? I'd probably be ok with a 6x5.5 or maybe 6x6...but if he gets more than that its value is diminishing in a hurry.

Lots of interesting moves. I hate losing Miller, and going forward with the lack of punch in our forward group. Hopefully they flip Chytil before he is a permanent fixture on the ltir. We have basically replaced Horvat and Miller, with Hronek and M Petterson. I expect this team to go all in for playoffs at the deadline again. They need a driving center, to get Boeser and DeBrusk scoring. Probably cost us all our draft picks to get one.
