Confirmed with Link: [VAN/Pit] Vincent Desharnais, Danton Heinen, Melvin Fernstrom, & 1st (NYR) for Marcus Pettersson (LD) & Drew O'Connor (W)

so basically we moved JT Milller for Chytil and 1st and moved the 1st for Marcus Pettersson. Sprinkle some b/c level prospects in there.

What took so long?

Chytil I'm not very high on, not even sure if hes an asset that moves the needle.

Marcus Pettersson on the other hand fits this team, and many teams like a glove.

Big rangy, very good defensively, active stick, physical, will fight anyone, and last season showed some offense - was approaching Mattias Ekholm lite territory. He should really help the defense.
He’s not physical at all and can only move the puck via passing. Not going to carry the mail himself. Defense is his calling card, he is kinda like a wet blanket/wet paper bag (whatever term you prefer) style in his own zone - in a good way. Teammates love him.
Marcus Pettersson fills a huge need for us IF we can extend him.

Dear God, extend him.

Anyone got a scouting report on O’Connor?
Great bottom 6er that looked like he was going to be more than that at one point. Good athlete that hustles his butt off. Not overly physical but plays hard and strong. Can play C in a pinch. If he’s the 3rd best player in your bottom 6 you have a solid bottom 6.

I think there were a lot better dmen to target with that pick, and you'd hope there'd be a condition that its the worse pick between what we have available

The Pettersson acquisition I like but it should have been done in November with our own first before the team imploded

For what it’s worth. This draft is considering really weak. If the rangers make the playoffs the pick is pretty lame. I seriously doubt they are a lottery team this year or next

Scouting report on DOC: Tries real hard, fast skater, just kind of has a low on ice IQ and sucks with the puck on his stick so he can't even really be used as a puck hound for a top 9 role imo.

Petts is what he is. A safe, low event hockey guy. Gets bullied around the crease and along the boards because he's not very strong or physical. Been having a down year so far, but it's hard to really judge because the Pens are in an unmitigated tailspin.

Next up, tell Soucy you are unwanted trash and to waive his NMC for a trade and get him as far away from Vancouver as possible.

And then on the other line, tell Juulsen he will never play a single game with the big club ever again as you send him a link of home prices in Abbotsford.

I'm a Big Rangers fan now just like management, hope they make the playoffs.

All this to finish 9th in the west is wild

Why not go for someone younger. 3 first round picks already traded by this management group
I know everyone loves draft picks but this team isn’t rebuilding (yet) and still have their own pick which likely be a top 15 anyways.

Petey upping his game replaces petey. That does not replace Miller.
Lol the team is not going to directly replace a 100 point center but it's pretty clear the locker room was in shambles and the entire team besides 3 player are underperforming. There's the intangibles of this trade that are important. Look - I loved Miller here and it's downright pathetic how the rift between Miller and Petey f***ed up the season. The defense has been unable to get the puck up the ice - the amount of grenades has been embarassing. It was clear they wanted a top 6 forward and a top 4 Dman to shore up the roster - remains to be seen if Chytil can be what he was 2 seasons ago. NYR has been just as much of a shit show as the Canucks.
