I’m all of the sudden not scared of Vancouver’s forwards.
and trading the 1st would indicate they want to challenge this season thusly gotta figure another trade for proven forward . if it were me i woulda shipped thee entire crew of hughes for whining and peterson for being a head case out along with miller and gone into all out rebuild . with boeser going too cuz this roster aint gettin it on anyway you slice it

Heinen has only played well on the Bruins and never had success elsewhere (including Sullivan's Penguins a couple years ago). It's really strange.
I watched every canuck game this year and i can honestly say i dont remember one thing he did. He seemed like a complete non-factor out there, its almost as though he wasn’t even on the team. I mean he wasnt terrible, didnt make mistakes …just didnt seem to add anything

When did Hughes whine? Oh yah, he didn’t.

heinen should have been traded months ago. he can't play tochett's system. tochett wants physical wingers who cycle the puck on the boards for a while before looking for a play. heinen is a skinny guy who can't sustain that style and wants to get away from the boards as soon as possible.

It will look a lot better once they make a move for a 2C. I can see their other 1st and Sutet going out the door for a player like Nelson and a prospect for a middle six winger. It’s not as good, but minus the Miller distraction, this could still be an effective group:

DeBrusk-EP-Boeser
Joshua-Nelson-?
Hoglander-Chytil-Garland

This requires them hanging onto Boeser though. If they don’t that’s another hole that needs to be filled.

I agree. It’s not imposing but has solid depth. If they could pick up Cozens for their 1st I would be more impressed. With the money going out from Miller they can afford it. He’s also closer in age to Peter and Hughes.

Ppl that are like “bAd tRaDe”

Have you all taken a look at the Canucks defense ??

They needed a dman more than anything. Anyone saying this trade isnt good just looks like someone that doesn’t know shit about Van’s dire need for another actual NHL defenseman. They’d be sitting on that first hoping it turns into Pettersson.

The trade basically ended up:

-Miller
-Desharnais
-Heinen
-Fernstrom
-Brannstrom
-Dorrington

for

-Pettersson
-O'Connor
-Chytil
-Mancini

That's more pieces coming from Vancouver, but I think Desharnais, Heinen and Brannstrom were basically zero/negative value guys. Still though. giving up Miller and what looks like 2 decent prospects for Pettersson, O'Connor, Chytil and another decent prospect doesn't seem all that great for Vancouver.

They need D. Why go for the more common player, positionally, and the lesser need? Especially when someone’s bit on taking those garbage contracts

100% but Vancouver might only have him for 30ish games. Unless he signs with the canucks it is a bad trade, but we cant know that yet until the summer, so just enjoy the ride.

Edit - if it helps them make the playoffs its also not a bad trade
