To VAN: Ivan Provorov, Kevin Hayes.

To PHI: Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Brock Boeser.

Two teams that are sort of hovering on the fringes of trying to compete, but not getting there. Need a shakeup. What about a swap like this, flipping "cap albatross" contracts OEL for Hayes. Both still useful players, but paid for a long time and well above their station. Balanced by a Provorov for Boeser swap, to compensate for Hayes contract being worse than OEL relative to their place in a lineup. Both teams get an exciting younger player in the deal to offset the doldrums of a "bad contract swap" and even out that value.

Who says no?

Obviously would have to be contingent on moving parts like OEL waiving, and Hayes waiving or not having Vancouver on his "no trade list". But that aside, is there a workable deal to be made there? Tweaks?

Seems fair to me. But I also think Philly is going to be in on Miller if he hits the block

Wow, don't like either Hayes or Povorov's contracts. Also hate the OEL contract.

OEL outplayed Povorov last year (and gets paid only $500k more) and Hayes deal is just horrible. Boeser is the only guy not on a terrible deal.

I'd probably do OEL for Povorov (due to shorter contract) but OEL wouldn't waive.

OEL + Miller (@50%) for Povorov + 2022 1st and 2023 1st?

We wouldn't do Provorov for OEL. OEL's contract is clearly worse.

I can agree based on time. That being said, OEL was clearly the better player last year so if you're win now, that changes a lot.

Most Canucks fans, including me, do not think we're ready to compete. That's why our 99 point power #1C is available.

Do you think the Flyers are in win-now mode?

Your trade proposal for us to trade the younger, arguably better D-Man (Provy) + two 1sts for Miller & OEL.

That kind of trade proposal is a train wreck for the Flyers. It's really not good. Doesn't accomplish anything for us.

Vancouver
Canucks decline

Having OEL has been fine being our #3D. The difference between having provorov take that role vs keeping OEL there is not substantial enough to downgrade our forwards from boeser to hayes

OEL doesn't waive for Philly, And Hayes doesn't waive for Vancouver. End of story.

No from Vancouver, no from the players who need to waive. This is just a weird trade proposal where no one wins

Props for creativity! Boeser & Provorov are basically a wash and id do that deal on its own, but imo OEL is already more useful than Hayes and much more likely to stay that way. Rather overpay a slow top4 D than a slow 2B/3A C.

Would be awful for Philly. Makes zero sense for them to solve Vancouver's problems and take them on selves.
Sense and Flyers don't generally mix. It doesn't make sense for Fletcher because he loves Hayes and wouldn't give him up for the world.
If GMs and NTC clauses were not involved, I think it does make sense for Philly. They need a goal scoring winger. Provorov clearly doesn't want to be here (I don't blame him) and they would be getting good value.

I don't see how it makes sense for the Canucks. They'll probably save a little bit on the cap given Boesser's new contract demands. They do get younger on defense, and I think Provorov will rebound very nicely in a situation away from Philly . Hayes would be their 3C though and their wing situation would be pretty dire.

Hayes is likely not agreeing to go out West,
a Boston-area kid, who came back to NE at first opportunity

also I don't see PF moving Provorov, he seems part of their core going forward

Vancouver was also clearly the better team. Philly was a giant mess.

How bad/good is kevin Hayes?

How did he finesse a $7m contract only scoring more than 50 points one year. What? LOL

This only makes sense if Canucks are moving Petey to the wing and need a 2C or they can't reach an extension with Horvat and Miller.

Paying Hayes to be a 3C at 7M is basically saying you don't want to compete.

In 2019 center line of Giroux, Couturier, Hayes and Laughton was basically saying they wanted to compete.
