Doughty went full Norris tonight. Totally nuclear. Thought it was cute that young Canucks were challenging him one-on-one all night. But all those fantastic defensive plays don't make the highlight reels so

Glad the media back east was watching on KCOP13!

I'm starting to wonder if VL and DL are going to have some sort of conversation this summer about coming back. I mean, he looks better almost every game. I thought he was one of the better players against the Ducks the other night and looked good again yesterday. I know his possession metrics are apparently bad but he's make lots of good reads on the forecheck and creating chances from it. The guy appears to have found his legs as he looks a bit quicker than when he first got here. I have a hard time believing he is done. If the Kings some how win the Cup, i think he might just end o a high note but if the Kings were to get into the 3rd round and lose, he might feel that desire to return. I didn't even think it was a remote possibility when he came here but I'm starting to think otherwise.

You know, one of the reasons Vinny looks dangerous is one of the same reasons his possession metrics are low--he's not afraid to turn the puck over by throwing a centering pass or driving the puck to the net. It's weird that Sutter doesn't seem to care about that. I don't think anyone will argue him and Mersch looked bad together and those two as a pair had like the worst possession metrics in history and it's less because they didn't possess the puck and more because they were fearless about throwing the puck to areas that are consistently 50-50 (netfront, for example) rather than 85-15 like cycling in the corner.

That being said, he's a puck protection monster with that frame and the way he uses his body to shield the puck then his hands to burn people is crazy, he's still so silly skilled.

It has an effect on the Flyers too though. They're retaining 50% already and would have to for the entirety of the contract. It would be a big mess I think unless it's already written somewhere in the trade what extra compensation the Kings would have to give up if Lecavalier didn't retire.

You really can see the remnants of elite skill in Vinny, especially the hockey sense, like amazing ****ing passing ability. He has a mind for the game, wish his frame would have held with it, kind of like Joe Thornton's has. I think that war with the Flames (and Iginla) in 04' took its toll.

He actually had some of his best seasons after that--108 pts in 2007 and 92 in 08, and even 70 in 2010--but then the recurring injuries started ripping him up. Wrist surgery in 09 knocking him out for the year, broken back in 2013 that keeps flaring up (including stiffening up early this year), this concussion last year: http://www.nj.com/flyers/index.ssf/2015/04/flyers_vincent_lecavalier_makes_like_rocky_balboa.html Edit: also shoulder and wrist surgery in the same year in 08

Just coming back from a back fracture is no joke, especially in a contact sport. Plus anyone with back issues at all knows it NEVER really goes away, especially once you start having a few bad days

Vinny's been fun to watch. A skilled player consistently playing in our bottom 6? Feels so funny.

From I Watched This Game at vancourier.com:

Drew Doughty always looks completely baffled any time he gets a penalty. He could have literally just murdered a man and he’d look at the ref, with another man’s blood dripping down his face, and say, “What? Are you f***ing kidding me? I didn’t touch him!” - See more at: http://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-t...m_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed#.dpuf

Agreed. Plus, I don't have a problem with the possession numbers as long as he's not bleeding goals on the other side of the ice. Until recently, the guys who have flanked him on the wings barely score at all and the fact that he's at 50% GF% at even strength is pretty dang good. Most of the bottom sixers are below that threshold. On top of that, he's a top 5 forward producer on the PP. Dude has been a godsend. I can't imagine where we'd be without the Flyers winning another trade with us.

Vine scores a goal and suddenly posters are asking if he's coming back? Slow it down. It's not like he's blowing the doors off of this thing. The goal he scored should have been stopped by a NHL-level goalie. He's what the Kings need right now out of the 3C spot, but that's it. He'll screw two teams if he comes back next season.

It's beside the point of what you're saying but I don't care HOW pucks go in anymore. For all the times the SURE goals should be going in, it's about time we find some leaks somehow too.

Damn, never realized Vinny broke his back, props for even coming back from that. I still think he retires after this season, that's a long list of injuries, most pretty severe.

Our shooting % has gone slightly up but still worst in the league since new years (but no longer the worst in history, merely close). But our save percentage has gone up to compensate so while we don't have the absolute worst PDO we're still 'unlucky'. The Sharks, in contrast, should be slowing down about now.

Still does not compute

That's a lot of injuries to deal with.

What are we looking at down the middle next season? Shore at 3C and Andy Andy at 4C? Even if Nic Dowd is our 4C next season , I don't expect him to score any more goals than Shore and Andy have.

Exactly... VL coming back is better then the alternative.

And Jason did a nice article a few days ago talking about the Kings and high scoring chances. Many seem to think that the Kings just don't get to those areas. Well they do they just don't convert.

Nothing wrong with taking chances, but at least when he coughs it up, it's not in a way that leads to chances or rushes for the other team. At least from what I've seen.

Versteeg, on the other hand...oof.

Post #2. May be a record for negative comments after a big win!

I was really pulling for Kinger to pass Brown in goals after missing so much of the season with the Broken foot. Kinger isn't going to get any help doing it on that line.
