Proposal: Value of Quinn Hughes

Weak argument. I have the season ticket, I watch all the teams, and I know almost every NHL player.

It would take me hours of pointless research to find my thread about a proposed trade between Quinn Hughes and Simon Nemec in 2022, but the mere fact that the trade proposal has aged very poorly should give you some assurance of the veracity of my statement.

That doesn't change the reality anyway.

So your bad prediction from 3 years ago is somehow evidence that your predictions are true and you should be believed?

And anyone who claims that being a season ticket holder gives one some form of authority is laughable. I have been a hockey fan for nearly 60 years. I know ALL the players. Therefore I know more than you! See how silly comments like that are?

Oh, I was a pretty good Ice Hockey player myself. Therefore I know talent better than anyone. Takes talent to know talent... right?

I could go on all day.

These kinds of players are so rare that their value is never what they’re actually worth. But often they move for the equivalent of four firsts. So a combination of picks, prospects, and roster players that equal that. Pretty much what McDavid would cost, if on the market. Which would never be enough.

Everything is relative. What you call a pretty good player may mean insignificant compared to my career.

He'll be re-signed and given the biggest contract in defenseman history. Probably looking at $14 million a year and NJ can't afford that, nor do I think Hughes want to take icetime away from his younger brother.
I think Hughes gets north of 15 mil per if he wants it. We’re talking 2 years from now when the cap will be inflated.

A Liiga scout is a troll? lol

I don't know. Perhaps I am not comprehending what he is selling. Perhaps there is a language barrier. But his replies lean toward my assessment. He may very well be a scout. A great scout perhaps. But that does not give him enough expertise to know the future of an entire franchise three years down the road. Sorry. Not happening.

And if professional scouts were always right there would be no draft busts. Yet every year there is several in the 1st round alone.

Quinn isn’t extension eligible until next summer not this one. It’s why I don’t think anything happens for another year. Also like I’ve said the issue with this package is Dougie has a 10 team trade list and I doubt a rebuilding Vancouver would be a place he wants to go.

Now Nemec+Mercer+Lenni+1st I’m in for next summer. Yeah the Mercer things hurts the depth but by next summer all 3 of Dougie/Palat/Dillon should be dumped. We should have space to build out a good forward group. The issue with building that forward group is Fitz is a dummy but I also don’t think he lasts that long.

These are serious questions: Don't you think Quinn Hughes would get more than that even as a rental at a 2027 trade deadline? He is literally a generational D Man. Do you think another team would not offer more than that. New Jersey, after that trade would be an immediate contender- any draft pick in that deal for "futures" is a second round pick, basically.

Whatever he gets, it'll be less than what Vancouver wants. Makes no sense for the Habs with Hutson. But I'll give it a go, Reinbacher, Hage, 1st this year and the following 1st

It was obvious. I remember his face when Luke was drafted. I sensed he was envious. His signing until 2027 instead of 2030 was another sign. Coincidentally, it's the minimum term to become a UFA. In 2022, seeing that Vancouver wouldn't go very far with the current group, I proposed a Nemec (highly rated at the time) for Q. Hughes trade.I remember being harassed by Canucks fans who didn't want to see it.

There. Here we are. It's clear he's going to leave. Obviously, today the trade wouldn't center around Nemec, who's no longer worth much.Silayev + Yegorov + Casey + Nemec + Hameenaho + 2 Round 1 picks (Vancouver with a rebuilding perspective).

For me, Quinn still has this idea. It was pointless to start the process without Luke being a part of the team. Now that it's done, the message has been conveyed. The three brothers are very close and want to build their legend together.
That's some solid weed you're smoking on that group going back. Why do we give up all this instead of waiting.

Quinn made it clear his intentions are NJ so he isn't going to give 100% to Vancouver or whatever team that's foolish enough to trade for him.

The best thing for all parties is send him to NJ and gain some value at least

I don't see the point in dragging it out 2 years..it benefits no one

Dumbest theory in history

2 chances to play for the title wasted to keep guys who don't play in the NHL. Casey & Nemec would be useless, the two late 1st round picks often don't give anything, the others will perhaps be in the NHL with no guarantee of shining there, far from it. You can easily replace that with a guy signed on the free agent market.
