Proposal: Value of Quinn Hughes

I see two options:
-He stays in Vancouver and is a Canuck for life
-He plays out his contract and joins his brothers in NJ

If I'm one of the other 30 teams, I don't see why I even bother making an offer. If he loves Vancouver so much that he turns down the opportunity to play with his family, then wtf can I possibly do to convince him? If he goes to NJ, then why would I think I can sway him to come to my team? Just doesn't make sense.

So any non-VAN, non-NJ team is trading for him as a 1 year rental. VAN only agrees to do that if they know he's going to NJ. And if Quinn has already told VAN that he wants to play with his brothers - why is a team going to trade for him knowing they only get 1 year?

Luke is going to sign a nice long extension with NJ this summer. Quinn is only 2 years from UFA...

With the two other brothers locked up long term, I find it really hard to believe that Quinn wouldn't want a once in a lifetime opportunity to join with them and potentially win a cup together. That shit just doesn't happen in this world.

I do feel for Canucks fans, but the odds of him staying there are against them.

This is reality. Maybe the Canucks over pay him and he cant refuse 8x$15M or some insane amount, but this is a very rare opportunity to play with 2 brothers and win a Cup with them hopefully. You cant write that and im guessing the NHL/NHLPA nudge it to happen as well. Its marketing gold.

So question is before he leaves for nothing, who do they trade him to and for what, knowing he will be a rental only.

Sounds like it has vegas written all over it

It's pretty simple really, If Quinn stays in Vancouver, he will get paid a stupid amount of money AND he will go down as the best Canucks player in franchise history.

If that is something he value's highly, he will stay.

Vegas seems to want more all around defensemen, but I guess you never know.

Its really a coin flip with him. He may love VAN and want to be there for his career, but the brothers thing is too big to ignore, especially two already in one spot locked up long term. Its too easy.

My bet: Canucks fall off more. Quinn gets traded for a haul to whatever contender, does the playoff thing, then signs with NJ as a UFA.

I don't how you can say this so confidently when you've had a guy win an Art Ross and Hart trophy with your franchise and lead your team to a Stanley Cup final. One game away from winning the cup as well.

All Quinn has done is win a single Norris so far and has lead the team no where.

Because his career is not even close to being over, and Quinn has another decade plus to do those things.

And saying just the single Norris is crazy, you remove the injuries, he’s breaking 100+ points this season and would get another one

Or he doesn't. Which is more likely.

He's a Devil, only issue is what # will he wear?

Stop this shit. He plays for Canucks now. Don't be so disrespectful.

If Quinn will some day leave Vancouver to play with his brothers so it will be very sad day for Canucks fans. There is zero reason to be arrogant or mean for Canucks fans if that happens.

It is very likely that Quinn resigns long term with Canucks and he will never be Devil. If that happens so all Canucks fans have the right to mock us because of idiots like you.

Re-signs.

My guess is Quinn gets 43 and Luke changes to 34.

Stop crying!
I said nothing disparaging. Not "he's coming to Devs this summer, next fall" etc.
Yes he plays in Van (for 2 more years!). There's nothing mean about it. Sure he could sign in Van and that would be great for them (I'll be open to the mocking, cause im not a child). But as likely as that is, it's just as likely he signs in Jersey. Maybe you need a nap and a blanky.

Is Jack really that soft? I thought he was more fragile and kind of reckless, not soft.
He was upset with the Devils fan when making that comment. Not meant as a serious comment and I'm sure Breakers will be the first to tell you that

Hughes will sign with Canucks long term for big money. Why would he leave his captaincy and dollars on the table to play under the shadow of his brothers in NJ?? Doesn't make sense. They can all play together for one team once they sign a retirement contract. Also NJD is not really a cup contender either so not sure what all the fuss is about.
