Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

Gonna be hard for any team to pass on Misa. Also got Hagens. Not saying he'll drop to 4 because he could be the best player in the draft but there's quite a few good forwards ranked in the top 5-10 of the draft and Shaefer only playing 17 games may or may not work against him.

It might not work, but the fact that it could and Boston being one of the best teams for viewership in America I believe would just benefit the league.

For what i saw and read, they're "substantial” gap between him and the rest of this draft class. The real battle is for #2 overall.

Misa, haggens and cie. are good player but right now they are not in the same category than Schaefer even if he's only played 17 games. It would be extremely surprising to see any team pass on Schaefer.

The talk yesterday was about Tortelli, so it follows that it was a good night for Pasta.

The B's better pray this 'retool-rebuild' doesn't take longer than 3 years. He's signed until 2031 but I don't see Pasta sticking around that long on a bad team.

One thing I like about this year, aside from the Leafs haven't been running out the string for 2nd in the Atlantic since Christmas, is there are no loser point merchants creeping into the WC.

Most OTL is a 3 way tie between WSH, MTL and LAK with 9 each - a bunch of shitty teams have more.

Last year the Bruins (Atl 2) had 15 and the Islanders (WC1) had 16. Year before the Rangers had 13 and were Met 3 but 5th in the east, year before the WC 2 Caps had 12.

Looks like I’ll need to start they NHL boycott as soon as the Ovie watch is over until that team out east gets eliminated.

Is there a more stuck in the middle franchise than the Buffalo Sabres? Each point gained is ruining their draft pick lol for a team who hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years they seem so directionless. A meaningless late run here is just so stupid. Not saying you tell the players to not go out and try and win but a coach and GM do have the power on who is in the line-up

Would you rather have Makar or McDavid?

I think I'd rather have Makar. Generational RHD. He'll end up with three or more Norris before his career is over.

It's looking more and more like he's gonna win his second one this year.

I think teams should build from the net out. So having the best defenseman in the league is more important than having the best centre. You could squeek by with a Suzuki or Stutzle if you had a Makar.

The only way I think a Centre can lead a team to a cup without a Norris trophy winning defenseman is if there are at least two generational players and one or more other stars/superstars on the team.

In other words it's gotta be stacked to the titties. Crosby/Malkin or McDavid/Draisaitl type deal. Even still McDavid wasn't able to drag his team to the final until Bouchard came around.

MacKinnon wasn't able to win squat without Makar.

The team that won the Cup last season did not have a Norris winning defenseman, or anyone close to it.

Real dick move of Sportsnet to hide the Ovy potential history game on 360 and Sportsnet+. Like do we need to relive the Leafs shellacking of Columbus from last night on SN1?
They have just spent 11 billion dollars to extend their TV rights, of course they need to make some of the money back anyway they can.
