I just spoke to Tim Murray and Buffalo doesn't want to trade him in the division. He's signing the paperwork for Sbisa for Kane as I'm typing this post.

I hope you're trying to be funny but I hope you're not comparing sbisa to Nathan beaulieu who's 23 has almost no pp time and plays mainly as a 4th or 5th d for the habs but would still b 7th in scoring for the Sabres

E Kane is hardly a kings ransom. And andrighetto and thrower are nowhere in this thread

But I guess to get evader kane you'd have to give up galchenyuk and a few picks

Right..

He is not worth anything doesn't matter the team he goes to the kids a problem no matter where he goes. He'll soon fizzle out of this league

Go back to your original thought of nathan...a trade never even discussed while focusing on you adding names like gally makes you look petty.

Come on man...

Come on man...

Someone mentioned top 4 d for kane and I offered just that

Will he be one a top 2-3 d

Don't know

Will Kane be one a 30 goal scorer? Don't know either but i do know that two years ago jets fans didn't want to hear about pacioretty for Kane and wanted the habs to add to galchenyuk for Kane

And no I wasn't the one that offered those.. But don't take every habs pick and group them together and call them all world beaters sarcastically

You wanna add to beaulieu.. Sure we can talk.. But let's not expect Kane to bring back Seth Jones

It seems like Kane is exactly what 5-10 teams are looking for, but no one wants to pay anything for him. He has off ice problems sure, but the charges were dropped for trespassing and all the other nonsense is unsubstantiated rumors and gossip. Murray gave up some decent assets for him and he's a top 6 guy on the majority of teams in the league. He's a headache, I think that's obvious, but that doesnt mean he's going to come help your team for a decent prospect or a mid round pick. He has more value as a big name, big personality player to possibly move to Vegas. They are going to need a player with name recognition, and Kane does that. I hope they at least offer him to Vegas, but if that doesn't work I'd rather leave him exposed and save one of our other assets then take on another teams underachieving prospect or player on a "change of scenery" deal.

I agree he probably is better served on the 3rd line or on a top 6 where he can be the centerpiece, because he is going to rip shots wide when linemates are wide open for a pass. The best bet is have him with guys who aren't going to hit the net either and at least he hustles and is good on the forecheck. With a coach who knows how to use him I can see him being a valuable asset on even a contender. Put him on in defensive situations and let him work the PK and I bet it increases his value around the league.

Shut it down. If these are the offers, Buffalo will be happy to keep him.
He won't be regarded as a jewel due to his issues which = gamble vs his on ice performance = detract value.

If you give up the fantasy that all by himself he commands a top premium, he still has value.
It may be useful to imagine him as a piece that provides balance to the equation in a package deal.

For example, in the below illustration Rangers would have to add a sweetener, but it visualizes the concept of mutual backscratch in a package:

Nash has 2 years 7.8 >>, maybe even more, than EKane, 2 years, 5.25

Rangers want to move a much healthier Girardi, who, though improved is still Girardi, although once you get past this year and the exp draft, is easier to move/buy out, etc. if nec. G is 5.5 per
Rangers eat half on Danny boy, = 2.75

Bogosian is solidly tough, but kinda basic after that. Top dollar for him at 5 long term.
Sabes reduce Bogo to a more manageable 4

reduced Bogo for max reduced Girardi

That is your core.
1 W and 1 RD each.
Sabes lose (7.8 - 5.25 =) 2.55 on F swap, gain (5.0 - 1.0 retained = 4.0 - 2.5 =) 1.5.
Net of 2.55 loss offset by 1.5 = 1.05 direct loss, then add 1.0 retained = 2.05 effective loss.

So Rangers add
Tambellini a 3rd who is almost ready, nicely heals loss of 3rd round pick surrendered for first crack at Vesey

some further reasonable sweetener from Rangers, have to work that out, would be interested in what people think that is ______________

so you see my point
look at this in strict 1 dimensional, it can be the proverbial forcing a square into a circle, etc.
but as part of a larger effort to balance a package, may get more/better results

post mortem
Buf - Nash 2 years w/Eichel, total win. Short term use of G, then options, wins on cap on player swap immediately, then long term on cap by moving a higher salary. Win

Rangers - have a chip in Kane who is unknown. Could be toxic, could be motivated to haul ass and fit on a fast team. Small win on cap immediately, follow through keep/peddle/expose to draft are all options. Trade discounted Bogo w/prospects Kovac and Stromwall for rental Shattenkirk, who they sign after the expansion draft. Win.

Win win

--------------------

Would Buffalo be open to a Kane for Staal deal in the offseason? It could either be before or after the expansion draft, though before would be better for the Rangers.
This is another way to go, though I'd prefer to move Girardi
Would only do this if it is prior to expansion draft, so we move a NMC and do so from defensemen category, which is a comparatively restricted headcount of only 3 protections.
