I know Evander Kane has had issues off the ice but what would it cost to acquire him? He has 2 years left at 5.25 per.

Bruins certainly need an offensive jolt. I think Kane would fit with Krejci very nicely.

Would something like Beleskey for Kane work?

Kane's value to Buffalo is higher than to any other team, chances are he just stays in Buffalo.

No. I think Murray would trade Kane to fill a need, but Beleskey doesn't do that. Murray likes what Kane brings to the team when he's on the ice.

Would love him in Colorado despite his off ice issues. Top 6 scorer who can play on the boards is Colorado's biggest need. Colorado doesn't have the cap space though.

If we gave them Iginla we would :sarcasm:

Lol true. I think they would want Bigras back in return based on their LHD depth and prospects and the Avs just aren't in any position to be giving up prospects of that value.

Like I said I think Kane is the type of player the Avs need. This is still a growth year though and trading prospects for him isn't a great idea.

Michael Russo was reporting that their were talks between Minnesota and Buffalo about Kane in a hockey trade. I assume the ask was Brodin. Don't think the Bruins are good trade partners.

I heard Elliotte Friedman on the NHL Network a few weeks ago say Van was the only team interested in Kane. Benning and ownership like Kane. Linden is not a big fan of Kane.

Obviously Iginla wouldn't get it done, but I just don't see Kane having Bigras type of value, especially with his attitude and off ice issues. However I would still like to see what he could do with us, because you are right he's exactly what we need in our top 6.

The Value for Evander Kane has been dropping ever since he was drafted. He is like a new Car. Looked good at the draft but ever since he has hit the ice in the NHL his value has dropped. That's not because of his talents that's because of the thing between his ears called his brain.

I am not one of his detractors but the kid needs to show some maturity and soon.

His value is certainly not very good at the moment. Can't see the Sabres trading him now unless they want to dump him. Better off waiting a little.

Tim Murray just recently said he would not trade Kane unless he got proper value back in return. I don't see that happening right now, so I doubt Kane gets traded.

Look at what Murray gave up for Kane and Bogosian. Why do people think he's just going to dump him for peanuts? That would be such terrible asset management. The kind of asset management that gets you fired....

Kane still brings a ton of on ice value to Buffalo. They don't have anyone else like him. He brings a dimension to buffalo that they are sorely missing with him out of the lineup. He is well liked inside the locker room and always gives 110% on the ice. There is no real immediate need to try and dump him, and with how much Buffalo just gave up to get him, I don't see another team being willing to pay the price it would take to get Murray to trade him.

I don't think Buffalo should trade Kane but I gotta disagree with your part on that being bad asset management. The best management admit their faults. Making a trade as bad as the Kane/Myers trade is bad enough for GMTM. If he refused to move Kane simply because of his prior screw up is even worse.

There are many reasons to not trade a hockey player. Not trading a player because he's all you got to show from a horrible prior move isn't one of them.

This is a deal I would do.

It also should be noted that the alleged Brodin/Kane deal fell apart after Kane's most recent legal troubles.

Would Buffalo be open to a Kane for Staal deal in the offseason? It could either be before or after the expansion draft, though before would be better for the Rangers.

Available for a top 4 LHD of about the same age. Probably no one's going to offer it, and that's fine.

The question with Kane is - as he trickles through his late-20s - does he manage to retain any of his current mentality or does he construct himself into something a bit more?

Is he, though?
:dunno:

He's not. He's going on his 8th year and has scored more than 20 goals exactly once in his career. What's his career average? 35-40 pts/year? Must be close. Also, injuries are part of the game and he can't stay healthy.
