This was a tough loss.. Looked to be in control but perhaps one is never in control when Jokic is on the floor.

Didn't get to see much with Leafs/football and baseball on

I watched the second half of the raptors/nuggets game because I stopped watching the leafs/jets game after the leafs took a 4-0 lead early in the 2nd period. I was like the leafs are good tonight, they will win for sure lol, finally they managed to hold off a late jets comeback rally and still won 6-4.

Now I’m Watching the last three innings of game 3 of the World Series

My team played yesterday, so no Monday night football game (giants vs Steelers) for me tonight

Man we don’t have talent at all, we need that one guy who is the main scorer. I thought Scottie would become one but I think he is what he is, a mediocre talent that fill out the team not a guy to build a team around.

Scottie is likely not the guy to take the team to a championship without some huge pieces around him but he is far from mediocre. He could flirt with a triple double most nights, now that's as "the guy"... you could argue Chris Bosh was similar in a sense. Depending on the roster around him, he's a top 2-3 player on a championship contender when he finishes developing. That's nothing to sneeze at.

That’s what I’m saying, he will need Lebron type to win. We just can’t win building around him, we need a superstar who can score at will for most of the nights and you build around him not around Scottie types.

So what do you do with Scottie? Trade him for picks and hope for lottery luck? If the team that draft picks your acquiring are even in the lottery. I don't see why you wouldnt currently be building around him, that doesn't mean he is the centerpiece in 3,4,5 years.

You need good players, a solid foundation, coaching, development and luck. The Raps got lucky when Kahwi was available, perfect storm for one season. Having guys like Siakim around made it possible after they made the move. Scottie has the potential to be much better than Siakim. You need to still develop players and a culture or no one will want to be a Raptor anyways. Scottie is the Raptors best player until the next guy comes around and pushes the ceiling.

Well Scottie playing for 3 seasons now? I hope he can become someone like Siakam who was a go to scorer after Kawahi. I just don’t see Scottie becoming anything more than what he already is, his shooting is just not there.

Also we will never get another Kawahi here because nobody wants to come to Toronto(Canada). It was only possible because Kawahi pretty much didn’t play for a season and a half straight and when he was traded the whole league had question marks about him. Hell he himself might be questioning if his former self could be reinstated at that point. As soon as he won though he wouldn’t even want to play here for a second.

All I’m saying is that we need a big time player from the draft, and yea you can get superstars late in the draft too. But building around Scottie will never win you anything.

I mean if he was an elite scorer he would be a top 5 player in the NBA with his playmaking and defensive ability. Really hard to take a post seriously calling Barnes 'mediocre" when he is at worst a significantly above average starting player who gets all star consideration.

Despite a disastrous first and third game and having to leave his 4th (and arguably best so far) game with an injury, Barnes is 41st in VORP and 144 in WS/48 (171 in WS). This is with playing without his starting PG for all but 14 minutes and without RJ for 3 of 4.

Another thing to note is that Toronto has started the season against 4 of the top 11 defensive teams from last year.
