not bothered by this loss at all to be honest. Kind of sad that my interest in the raptors and the NBA has really dwindled, but it's just not a very likeable league to be honest.

Speaking of not likeable... was that the last time i had to watch fred vanvleet dribble into 3 defenders to hoist up an ill advised circus shot while the rest of the team are just standing there and watching? hope so.

It's sad that I/we have been so numb to these things in Toronto sports that even when they were up 19, I just had that feeling/knew they would blow the lead. Lo and behold, as I kept flipping between the Jays game, I saw the lead dwindling, eventually to be overtaken by the Bulls. Would have beem nice for them to have just stomped on their throats and extended the lead to a 30-point blowout. Pathetic.

You mean you don't like load management of players by the first week in the season? Blatant attempts by star players to break their contracts with their teams so they can go to a championship team? Man, I agree with you completely. Trash league.

for me it started with lebron going to miami with wade and bosh. God thinking back to how it was televised like some big national huge event... so cringe worthy. so clueless. Kawhi rejecting us after winning the championship was pretty much the final nail.

I'll be happy if the raptors have success again, but honestly i don't really care.

Best bet for the offseason is to look for a team that needs a 2nd very good player to play behind a star and ship Siakim to them. Siakim is not a clutch player or guy to lead a team.

FVV let him go and find a true point guard to can facilitate the offense. OG and Barnes can man the wings. There is pieces here just have to ship out the right ones to re-tool around the younger core.

If Doncic truly wants out Siakim ++++ anything besides Barnes.

I’ll be sad if Nick Nurse goes. I think he is a good coach who got everything he could out of the teams he had here. The season after Kawhi left was a great sign to me that he was a great coach. Not his fault Raptors came up just short in 7 games against Boston in the bubble. Last year, nobody thought the team would finish anywhere near where they actually did. Nick Nurse is definitely one of the good guys. But I understand if Raptors and he decide to part ways. So long, coach, I will definitely miss you!

There's been a constant disconnect between Nurse and the players for the past couple seasons now. I think he's a solid coach but the Tom Thibodeau level of aggressiveness can create a lot of friction in a locker room when things aren't going well.

It wasn’t Kawhi leaving that soured me. I didn’t think his load management schtick was going to work a second year. Not when you had guys like Lowry more than willing to suit up every night no matter how he was feeling. The players tolerated it for a year because they had a goal in mind at the start of the season but Kawhi’s situation dramatically changed from the start of the year to the end. Initially it was sold as the load management was only going to last until December and then he’d be healthy enough to play every game. Then it kept stretching on and on for the entire regular season. I just couldn’t see that being a harmonious situation going forward if it was going to be permanent and I don’t think it really ever was with the Clippers.

Anyway, what started to sour me on the NBA was Paul George being able to screw the Pacers after he’d just signed a contract because he preferred to play elsewhere. Any league that just allows this doesn’t care about its fans.

Nick Nurse is still coaching Lowry and Leonard.

Management is drafting a bunch of positionless defenders so that we can defend and Nurse is coaching a style that 0 of his bench players and only some of his starters can play.

Nurse is a good coach, but hasn't adapted to the change in personnel.

What do you think it would cost?, he'd be that extra 8ish points a game they needed all year!

A ton more than it would have last off season. There were quiet whispers very early in the season that SGA wasn't totally happy there either but those went away.

Nurse is a good coach but seems to have a massive ego. You can say the bench isn’t great, but he never played them regardless. Masai is a arrogant clown, he lucked his way into a championship and thinks he can do no wrong. They better be a bottom 6 team next year or they lose that pick in the Poetl trade.

Seems like they almost wanted to lose yesterday. I mean that FT stat is nearly impossible to pull off. VanVleet and OG clearly want out, Trent and Siakam need to go.

Starting 5 of Precious/Flynn/Banton/Boucher/Weiskamp, that should be good for last in the league

If we had Poetl all year we likely make the playoffs and avoid the play in. The team would pace for roughly 50 wins if you look at our record since the trade. Does Ujiri decide to resign everyone and look for sign and trades? Not a complete tear down but moving pieces around.. hard to say. I think its a better option then just losing FVV and Trent for nothing, even if they dont fit here.. losing an asset for free is not good business unless you have a plan for the cap space. You also cant just assume letting both players walk, you can offer out similar contracts to free agents, those can be signed above the salary cap because we own their bird rights. Trading Fred, Trent, OG, Pascal, Boucher, Birch in some combination along with picks if we go big can match some very large salaries...

As for Nurse, I hope he stays. I dont think he deserves to be over looked but also if he wants out.. he has earned that and we would be a hot spot for coaches I believe.

SGA would cost Barnes +++ ... hes young, averages 30 a game and is a game changer. We would be rebuilding by the time we acquired him and likely OKC does not even entertain offers for him unless he goes fully punlic with demands which seems out of character for the most part.

Putting a Wrap on the Raps With Michael Grange - The FAN Drive Time

Michael Grange from SN joins us in the studio to look back at the Raptors season, what went wrong and why there is a vibe to “run it back” next season. Then a look ahead to the off-season, free agents and then Nick Nurse’s future as well. Then Michael goes into the media avails today, trying to read between the lines with the team and why firing Nurse is not happening with the amount of money he would be owed which is close to $9M next year. Then a look at Nurse’s popularity, the connection with Team Canada and if that plays a role since the lines are blurred between the Raptors and Canada.

Sad thing is we have good pieces and should be easy to build around them. Need some damn guards. Enough of this bringing in/drafting players who only have a massive wingspan and can play D and not spread the floor. The sad thing is we have a lot of those kinds of players and still can't hold leads, probably because our coach plays 6 players 40 mins a night every game.
