I liked this TDL better than last year. I wished Brown was moved but maybe the deal wasn't there. Can always move him in the offseason.

Compared to last year there is a clear direction now with the team.

Now that the dust has settled, Toronto has to sign 1 player and could sign 2.

That being said, we could see something like:

IQ / Brown
Trent / Agbaji
Barrett / Dick
Barnes / Boucher
Poetl / Olynyk
Nwora Temple McDaniels

With some fun mix and match combos that lead to significantly better spacing than the Raps started the season with.

Gradey shouldn’t be seeing that much time on the floor in his rookie year anyway. Let the kid train and ramp up as he’s not built for a consistent 20-30 mpg workload. Keeping GTJ allows for them to work Gradey in gradually.

Not moving Brown was odd though since I don’t really like the fit. Perhaps something might come about in the offseason/draft day.
Sure, he could use more training time, that’s fair but regular burn is also gonna help him adjust to the league. This is just a good time to audition and try guys out plenty imo.
The roster and cap are in good positions, with plenty of immediate cap space, a nice salary number with one year left, the extra picks - good flexibility to broker lots of different scenarios by trade or in free agency.
At first glance, it appears that a future 4 would be a big need and fit moving forward. And a 5, I guess.
How’s that looking in free agency or trade?
Assuming the team picks this year (bottom six) how does the top of the draft look? In fairness, some of the teams best picks of the past decade have been mined or projection types (Pascal, OG and Barnes in particular). Anyone stand out in that ‘rough ‘ but projectable way?

The team pre trades had above average defenders at every position except PG for starters and inconsistency on the 2nd unit.

If Scottie is starting PF, then the Raps have 4 guys who can defend decently and the inconsistency of Gary for starters but have far better bench D.

The biggest thing that has changed is that the team has gotten better shooters allowing for a lot more looks.

Last year's team was one of the worst half court offenses and the team we have now has potential for top 10.

I’m not sure about these moves tbh. I am finding it hard to get excited about our roster. Who is exciting to watch?

Barnes, Quickley, Barrett are all fine young players that play the game hard.
Barnes is an all star in year 3 and people give Barrett a negative spin but hes 23, Canadian, signed for 4 years and played in New York under a tough coach. He's going to get comfortable and grow in Toronto. He's been a hugely hyped prospect since his teen years in all of North America.

Brooks off to a hot trash start for Houston. Welcome home buddy.

Raps are 19th in Offensive rating and 23rd in Defensive Rating versus 13 and 11 last year.

On the flip side, they are 20th in TS and 16th in pace versus 27 and 25.

We're abandoning the all or nothing go for the steal for more sustainable offense. (Note that both of last year's numbers were hugely impacted by the Raps having one of the top steal numbers and by far the most fast break points per game)

Not a huge fan of his but Killian Hayes was released by the Pistons. Only 22 years old and a former 7th overall pick. Might be worth taking a shot at him given our teams position.

Barrett has been a lot better than I thought he would be
He played at this level in New York as well, he's just getting a more prominent role here. He's also still young enough to improve his overall game over the next few years.

The OG trade was the most significant move for the Raps this season.

I don’t think he ever played at this level tbh. He was wildly inconsistent and inefficient with the Knicks and based on the analytics he’s basically putting up his best player-value season… in just 16 games.

I like IQ and think he’ll put it together as well but as of now RJ is the big ticket which I don’t think anyone expected when the trade was announced.
