Why did the Raps let him go for zilch? They had to have known they were doing diddly squat last year and this year. Masai has been really disappointing the last few years. Treading water every year. Lucky enough I don’t have a lot vested in the NBA. Kinda wish we had a bunch of new people running the office. I remember thinking Masai was a god. Not so anymore. Not a lot to get excited about other than Dick and Scottie lol

The answer is simple. Masai still believed in this core. Every move he has made aligns with that. Not trading FVV or GTJ, trading for Poeltl, all the talk of not seriously considering moving OG or Pascal.

Hopefully this forces the rebuild which will give us those things to get excited about. FVV leaving is a positive because now the status quo is no longer possible. He has been great for the franchise but this is best for both the team, the fans, and the guy who will now make more than Kyrie Irving.

Insane that FVV got that contract... instantly becomes one of the worst values in the league. I liked Fred and his back story but that is just disgusting. Teams can give that kind of $ to FVV but they also have to cut low to mid level players trying to make their way into the league or vets trying to stay/come back?

The NBA has WAY too much money at their disposal.

If you're going to run the point Scottie experiment, this isn't a bad guy to have around. It's probably one of the best remaining options.

Obviously this isn't my first choice outcome but if it was my choice we would be operating on a completely different timeline for the last year and a half.

Happy for Fred for getting paid. Preferred him back but understandable why the raps didn’t want to go there.

Best of luck Fred.

Alright let’s hope for a top 5 pick.

There are very few players in sports that deserve that type of money. FVV is definitely not one of them.

Oh well, at least if we bottom out next year we get a high pick. Oh wait

This was going to be a middle of the road team again even if they ran it back, no clue why they are being stubborn about it. Ya’ll fumbled the 2023 trade deadline, admit you f***ed it up and try to retool at this point.

Schroder has put up pretty good numbers throughout his career and he is bigger, more athletic, and better defensively than FVV. His playmaking ability and 3 point range are decent, but not as good as FVV.

For 2 years/26 million, he's a solid addition that will leave us with more cap flexibility to bolster the roster.

40+ for FVV? Nope, no way. We can miss the playoffs without him, that’s fine. All best to him, gettin paid.
