It was mentioned earlier in this thread that there was a report out there that Benny's agent was telling teams that Bronny would only sign with the Lakers and if drafted elsewhere he would go play in Australia.
I wouldn't have minded the Raptors burning that extra pick they acquired and drafted Bronny with it. Use him as a ransom. Call his bluff about going to play in Australia (fat chance), or force the Lakers to overpay and pick up a couple nice pieces so he can fulfill LeBron's dream of Bronny playing with his dad.

No way the league, the Lakers or LeBron would have allowed him to go play in Australia. Laughable.

Milton
Barnes - The #1 option and hopefully grows into a superstar.
Quickley - The #2 scoring option at this point.
Barrett - Barrett is the biggest question market for me. Not sure if he will be a good starter or a liability. No idea what to expect here.
????? - Need another starter.
Poeltl - Fine starting role player. #5 option with defensive presence.

Wait….why can’t the team resign GTJ or use the MLE?
That can't means wont in this case.

GTJ pushes Toronto over the 2nd apron which will never happen.

The MLE gets Toronto close to tax for a player that Toronto doesn't have a roster spot for.

Yeah, guess I was taking it literally thinking there was some obscure cap rule. Thanks.

It's still early, but I was a little upset seeing Jalen Smith sign for 3x9 and not having it be Toronto.

With signing Temple, the Raptors currently have 13 players signed, have to sign Walter and one of GTJ/Shead likely takes the final spot. That means that Brown HAS to be included in a move if the Raps add a big man (unless they are cutting guaranteed deals or desperately trying to back out of contracts).

Patrick Williams still works and is still likely the prime target, but Smith would have been a sneaky good move regardless.

I don't follow closely BUT do we never have cap space??? Seems every year we have zero money.
Correct. They prefer to operate above the cap line to increase trade options that rarely occur. In a rebuild, should be below cap line to give salary relief for other teams in exchange for picks, youth.

Woulda been nice in place of Boucher.
Especially in light of Vezenkov’ s desire to leave.
Meanwhile, that Hartenstein contract

Lol what? Barrett was arguably the best of the 3 last season. Still only 24 yet entering his 6th NBA season. I am very bullish on his upside. IMO he is our #2 scoring option, not Quickley.

Yeah, Mogbo signed for similar term, too.

Nothing formal on Walter or Chomche yet.

Aside from BB’s eventual trade (recent rumours are the Lakers offering long distance future firsts and cap junk), the roster is looking pretty set. I guess Vezenkov’s status might be up in the air but it’s been quiet on that front and Boucher’s expiring might be something.

These guys looked like a playin-level team last year before the injuries, so it’ll be interesting to watch. Need plenty of internal progression to make any real noise.

Lakers could be pretty bad in a few years. Future firsts from them could turn into a really lopsided trade, even if it doesn't benefit us for a while.

Chomche is expected to get a 2 way and Walter got scale. Raps have 16, but Freeman-Liberty is likely to get cut to make 15.

Raps still need a big, IMO, but hitting the 1st apron is unlikely this year.
