ye, its better.
actually, sorry a bit of a correction, if celts lose to brooklyn/cavs(lol) then we would get bucks 2nd round if miami wins against their playin opponent. regardless, its still the better bracket to be in

Sorry to correct the correction! With the Raptors in the 4/5 matchup, they will play the winner of the 1/8 matchup if they advance regardless of what happens with the Celtics. Most likely that team will be Miami.

This is because the NBA does not 're-seed' the teams after the first round, the teams stay in their position in the bracket. This means the Raptors cannot play either of the Celtics or Bucks until the Eastern Conference Finals.

I'd be shocked if Masai gives permission to even speak to him, and shocked if Nurse is even interested in the first place. I don't think anyone who watched what they did to Vogel would give up a job with one of the strongest and most professional organizations in the league to go be the first one to go under the bus when the Lakers implode again.

After a failed season that started with a draft-night trade heightening championship expectations and ended outside of the postseason, the Lakers must re-evaluate everything, from their decision-making to how they surround two All-NBA pillars to their coaching staff. And changes could come soon.

The Lakers are expected to fire head coach Frank Vogel, sources tell The Athletic. Among the franchise’s top targets for the position, multiple sources say, is Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse.

In three seasons as Lakers coach, Vogel helped lead the franchise to the 2020 NBA championship and had a 127-98 record. But these Lakers have been searching for a new voice, and Vogel, who is entering the final year of his contract, saw defensive slippage and had his voice wane throughout the season.

Nurse, who led the Raptors to a championship in 2019, signed a multiyear contract extension in 2020 and has two years left on his deal. It’s unclear whether he will be attainable or whether he would have interest, but the Lakers are hoping the former Coach of the Year is an option with the allure of coaching James and Davis and the appeal of the Los Angeles market. To acquire Nurse, the Lakers would need to receive permission from the Raptors and likely engage them on a prospective trade. Over the next several weeks, expect several other candidates to emerge, including University of Michigan coach Juwan Howard, who interviewed for the opening in 2019.

I don't see why Nurse would leave arguably one of the best situations in the NBA to go to the Lakers mess. I suspect this is just like everything else NBA where the media think that the allure of a big market in the US is too much for small town Canadian team people to pass up.

Lol Nurse isn't going anywhere. He has a great opportunity to become the Raptors version of Pop, has a very good team with young talent he can keep developing and he's also running the Canadian national team. Lakers are a mess with meddling ownership and a totally classless organization that just fired their championship winning coach through a Woj bomb and didn't even tell him directly.

There's nothing there for Nurse. If he wants more money the Raptors can always accommodate.

Why would anyone want to coach that team lol. Win a title and get fired 2 years later. Be at the mercy of Lebron. Imagine Nick telling Lebron you actually have to play defense when you play for him, it would be a disaster.
The LA and Lakers allure is very real but I don't think Nurse is gonna be that enticed by it. I honestly don't know what kind of moves are gonna change for the lakers because holy shit watching this season was like a dumpster fire over and over again. It was just atrocious.

Man, I keep forgetting much disrespect the Raptors get when it comes to the basketball media, already think the upcoming series is over. Even though we won the regular-season series. No doubt Embiid is good but damn....

I think the Lakers allure WAS real.

I'm not so sure anymore, seems like a sinking ship at this point. Do you want to be the one that tries to turn that around? An old Lebron and constantly hurt AD are the only things on the roster. Lebron is not particularly easy to coach at this point either.

I don't see Nurse being interested.

It's good when other organizations want your guys. There were a couple of teams after Masai too a couple of years back, nothing came of it. When the Lakers call the Raptors about Nurse, they will them to f*** off.

Meanwhile in Laker-land, Russell Westbrook "wasn't given a fair chance to succeed" and "doesn't know what his problem was with me" when it came to the head coach.

Gee, Russ. I dunno. Maybe it could've been the fact that you were chucking up bricks at a historical pace and refused to alter your approach or, y'know, play something that could even be said to somewhat charitably be called defence.

But that couldn't be it, right? Because that'd make it your fault. And that can't be.

Masai was a wanted man as well, it's just part of being a well-run organization. Nurse isn't going anywhere, he's a perfect fit for what the Raps have in place.

I can see Nick Nurse eventually leaving the Raps to make his retirement more cushy if someone offered him a huge contract.

But not before that. He's in a great place right now and still has so many things trending the right way that he can take this team right back to the top in the near future.

He could cement a legacy with the Raps, and then make the $$ to retire to Mustique and jam with Mick and Keef.
