Hopefully he gets more opportunities going forward, there was never a reason why he shouldn’t get consistent bench minutes.
ye nurse is a great coach but man, considering this is more of a development year im not sure hes handled alot of the young players properly. banton, flynn, champagnie are being yo-yoed in and out of the lineup. hard as a young player to get confidence when ur coach doesnt show it in you. and i get why hes doing it, he wants to win, but realistically we arent winning this year so it seems odd.

2 Reasons Raptors Must Trade For Zion Williamson This Offseason

wait. is this even remotely possible? We could become a championship team again if this happens
also, i read that over his 1st 3 seasons he has a grand total of 3 more games than greg oden did over his 1st 3 years(maybe the biggest bust in nba history, who retired due to injuries)

thats a scary AF proposition considering what zions diet is like and he already has major foot issues so young.

Raptors' OG Anunoby to be sidelined 2 weeks with fractured finger - The Athletic

OG Anunoby will be out for two weeks to let his fractured finger fully heal, according to Raptors coach Nick Nurse. The small forward has now missed five straight games with the injury.

Anunoby, 24, is averaging a career-high 17.5 points through 42 games played. He is also posting averages of 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Anunoby isn't the only Raptors player dealing with injuries. 2021 All-Star point guard Fred VanVleet is out for tonight's game against the Detroit Pistons with a knee injury.

The Raptors have a 34-27 record, sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference.

How does Anunoby's absence impact the Raptors?

Eric Koreen, Raptors beat writer: The Raptors have built a roster full of versatile defenders between 6-foot-7 and 6-foot-9. Of all of those players, however, Anunoby's has the most versatility as well as the highest ceiling as a one-on-one defender.

Additionally, on a team short on shooting, Anunoby's capable spot-up 3-point shooting was a big factor in loosening up opposing defenses that pack the paint on them.
However, Anunoby had struggled with his shot heading into the All-Star break while he was playing with the injury, so the decision to rest him makes sense.

Who steps up in Anunoby's absence?

Koreen: Scottie Barnes was starting with and without Anunoby, but his role will be most dramatically impacted. The reigning Eastern Conference rookie of the month will pick up some of the offensive slack, although not in the same style as the more brutish Anunoby, and will pick up some of the biggest defensive assignments, too.

Thaddeus Young, who is out against Detroit on Thursday night with a non-COVID illness, will soak up a lot Anunoby's minutes. The likes of Yuta Watanabe, Svi Mykhailiuk and Dalano Banton might draw into the game because of Anunoby's injury, as well.

Dallas Mavericks Wanted How Much From Toronto Raptors in Kristaps Porzingis Trade? - Sports Illustrated

The Dallas Mavericks moved on from Kristaps Porzingis at the trade deadline by sending him to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. The deal has worked out quite well for the Mavs.

On The Lowe Post podcast, ESPN's Tim MacMahon mentioned the Mavericks' attempt to trade Porzingis to the Toronto Raptors and how much they were asking for.

"(The Mavericks) moved on, and they tried to trade (Kristaps Porzingis) to Toronto. My understanding is the discussions there were (Goran Dragic) and (Gary Trent Jr.). Toronto understandably said, 'we're not giving up Gary Trent Jr.'

"So the Washington thing came together, and the Mavericks said, 'hey, financially it's. wash but it's two smaller contracts that will be easier to move,' and they felt like Porzingis was kind of in the way, and they felt those two guys could build roles off the bench, so they pulled the trigger."

Trent Jr. is in the midst of a highly impressive season but has cooled off since the All-Star break. Overall, he's averaging 18.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 38.6 percent from beyond the arc.
