OKC picked him.

By the way, I think Siakam, OG and Barnes on the floor is perfectly doable. We'll be a nightmare for others defensively!

Love the potential!
ok say its a great defensive game. who on our team is taking big shots? regardless of the score we need somebody who can put his head down and get us a win. do u trust OG, siakam or....barnes sighhhhh to do that?

Kyle Lowry :naughty:

Bring the legend back.

Why would OKC trade Shai for Siakim...?

Also laughable everyone saying the trade is a disaster right away. If Barnes has the highest ceiling in the opinion of the draft room you go for him. Cant teach size, by all accounts he is a tremendous worker and has great character also two things hard to find. Suggs would have been great for sure, he is a winner but we will see how this roster is constructed in time.

OKC could use a forward. Also not saying do it as a 1 for 1. I'm sure other stuff would have to be involved.

Can someone please logically explain under what circumstances there’s any logic behind this draft pick? Bobby & Masai galaxy braining this IMO
I mean the logic is Toronto thought he was better for them. Just like Chicago felt Patrick Williams was better last year.

He was a riser. I don't like it but he is someone that possesses some elite tools. Unfortunately his shot isn't one of them at the moment.

They all will but probably miss it.

Because they have said repeatedly, it's not about taking the best player today. It's taking who will be better in year 2, 3, 4, 5, etc...

Shai is the future of that team, I see zero reason why they move him. It would be great for the Canadian kid to come home but you have to imagine he is one of the very few players OKC would move.

Raps brass overthinking the pick... the one effing thing they needed to not do. DONT OVERTHINK IT! They thought too hard... hurt their brains, and left the BPA on the table.

Didn't they already say they would move him or were looking to move him?

Well, at least we have one of the best player development programs in the league. Hopefully, Barnes will eventually improve his shot and become a well rounded impact player for us.

WE have the best drafting team the last 10 -15 years. Definitely gonna go with Masai on this one - he says this is the pick this is the pick. Wonder if this means Pascal is gone sooner or later?

If anyone in the sports sphere has earned a near-unlimited amount of trust that they know what they're doing, it's Masai.

Relax.

There was an article earlier today talking about expectations and the damning nature of consensus by showing that in the last 15 years or whatever the Sacramento Kings have picked over a dozen players in the lottery and have only 3 all-star appearances from them (all from DeMarcus Cousins) and that basically all of their picks were lauded or defensible in the moment when they happened.

Also remember everyone flipping their shit about Siakam in the late 1st, saying the Raptors should've waited for the 2nd round if they liked him.

The closest the Raptors have come to screwing up badly in Masai's tenure at the draft was Bruno. And even that isn't as bad as a lot of teams f*** up on a regular basis.

Yes, I'm surprised they went Barnes over Suggs. But if the front office thinks this was the right move, they deserve us backing off, calming down, and letting it play out before we start freaking out, tipping over cars, and setting things on fire.

I remember being annoyed we passed on Skal Labissiere for Siakam, and getting Lowry was a disappointment over not getting an ancient Nash. Now, I also remember being really pissed off taking Raphael Arujao. So, I hope it is a situation like the former than the latter. But, I have way more faith in Masai than I ever did in Rob Babcock.

Bruno was a weird pick, but I think people forget how much of a crap shoot outside the top 10 the NBA draft tends to be. Even then its suspect as hell.
