People, everyone needs to relax. Yes they lost once again to Boston. But the game plan put forward was to not have Tatum or Brown take over the game. You had 2 players in Pritchard and Olejawe (sp?) that shot way above their career averages from the floor and 3. They beat us.

Shit happens but 2nd night off a back-to-back the game plan was executed to perfection and the 4th and 5th options beat the Raps. My bet is that it wouldnt happen again. Fluke night beat us and so be it.

This team is on the road to finishing where everyone expected them to at the start of the season in 4 or 5 spot in the East.

Anyone that expected anything more is wearing blinders. There is nothing out there available that would make them a 1 or 2 seed this season.

All true, but, a competent centre would give them a chance against anyone in the East. Miami is a bit of a wild card, but Boston isn’t impressive, Philadelphia is beatable, the Bucks are flawed and beatable. The Nets are another wildcard because they should beat almost anyone on paper, but they’ve got a terribly inexperienced coach and appear to be a historically bad defensive team.

I’m thinking more about matchups in a 7 game series than regular season seeding.

As long as they don’t trade futures away than so be it. I don’t think they are good enough to get out of the east and definitely not winning it all. Would be nice to see one last run with Lowry, but I wouldn’t be opposed to trading him either, depending on the return.

I’m with you. I hope they re-sign Lowry and he never wears another jersey, but if he plans to leave as a free agent it’s something they absolutely need to consider.

I think he wants to chase another ring. If he doesn't think the Raps have a chance, then I think he'll go elsewhere. Just my opinion.

Yeah, if that’s the case they should talk to him about where he’d like to go and see if they can get something in return. To a contender, Lowry should hold a lot of value, especially if it’s where he wants to go and will re-sign.

Between the free agents walking and the assets paid to acquire them, they’ve literally seen like 10 good player gone for absolutely nothing the past 2 years. They can’t keep letting that happen.

Who are you counting in those 10? Can you say JV or DD went for nothing when we actually got a parade out of it?

Fair point. Obviously you’d do it all again, but that’s a lot of combined assets that left for nothing. If they can recoup some of these by moving Lowry (if he’s going to leave anyway) I think they need to look at it.

If there is any truth that Miami wants him and Herro could be involved...sign me up. Doubt it though

Yes, I see your point. We did not get any long term assets. We have nothing left of DD and nothing left of JV. Except the memories of that run will last forever.

Yeah, doubt Miami would do that. Herro has huge upside but that would be great for the Raptors if they could swing it.

I saw someone on Reddit with a three way that sent Kyle to Philly, Beal to Toronto, and Tyrese Maxey + Philly 1st + Raptors 1st to Washington. Would need other pieces to make salary work and probably a little more to Washington to sweeten the pot.

Not sure how likely that is, but there’s a few interesting possibilities.

Yeah. I include Poeltl (who they could really use right now) Delon Wright, T Ross + 1sts to the Spurs, Magic, and 2nd to the Grizzlies all in the last few years.

As you mention, a championship makes it all worth it but going forward that’s a lot to give up for zero assets long term.

Average team. Not going far. A bad east and not even .500?
Is Miami an average team not going far, too?

I think most who understand the situation saw a team get off to a rough start in a tough situation with a coach that temporarily forgot their identity. It took some time to figure it out but they’ve been a lot better over the past few weeks, even without a starting caliber centre.

This team is much better than their record indicates.

Drummond is awful. He is one of the worst offenders of being total empty stats, while at the same time having an attitude and thinking he can be the focal point of a team. He's in the 18th percentile for finishing at the rim too, he is comically bad offensively and chooses to eschew defense in the name of chasing rebounds.

He's only an upgrade on Baynes because Baynes really is that bad. Unless we think we can get Drummond to buy into being a role player, I just don't see going after him as a good idea. Especially since we'd actually have to give up stuff of value just to make salaries work - which wouldn't work unless a rebuilding Cleveland would be willing to send back picks/prospects.

I’m thinking we should hold off on a Drummond trade for now even though he’d be an upgrade on Baynes.

If we’re still below .500 at the deadline we should consider selling Lowry to a contender for a high price. He’s been a cornerstone for us and an amazing player, I would be happy to see him get another ring.
