Anthony Bennett?

I suppose its too early to say Anthony Bennett is a bust.

But whats up with him? I always think Rafael Araujo :sarcasm:

I saw a bunch of hilights from Bennett and of course there showing him fail but some of the hilights look brutal.

Celtics hadn't been an easy win despite the losing streak. They led Portland for just over half the game on Saturday before the better team pulled away in the fourth. I would imagine getting Rondo back helped as well.

Rondo didn't play.

The pressure of being the 1st overall pick when in fact they kinda surprised everyone taking him there. He's a talented guy and I think he needs a change of scenery to get his career back on track.

Yeah, many thought Oladipo or Noel would go first.

In any case, the 2013 draft class was not very good. The decent players to come out so far have outplayed their draft position.

He was also drafted by the wrong team. Already Varejao and Thompson but they pick a PF who has never played 3 and try to shoehorn him into the line up. They shoudl have taken Oladipo and sent off Waiters but Cleveland being Cleveland :shakehead

Wouldn't mind if Masai picked him up for cheap honestly.

He also reported out of shape. He said hed be ok with a d-league stint to try and get him regular playing time. He needs to get in shape and learn the pro game. No doubt the talent is there, but I dont know if anyone can develop when theyre playing THIS bad

Ya he really looked out of shape in some of the footage I have seen from this year.

Surely he cant be a total bust?

Bennett just has a lot of things going against him. A 3/4 tweener (which is always risky to pick high), he's not a super dedicated guy when it comes to the gym (he's pretty chubby), effort comes and goes, and was drafted to the wrong team. Shouldn't have been a top 3 pick, even in last year's draft.

Ive always been a basketball fan but i never understood a couple things. whats a tweener? someone whos say too big for #3 but too small for #4? if thats the case, why even draft a player like that? Wasnt that like Dejuan Blair?

It depends on intangibles. Rebounding is an art that is perfected by some players that are even short to be PF and not skilled enough to be SF. Reggie Evans is an example.

There will never be another short rebounder like Dr. J.

Hey guys, just a quick question for those of your who follow the team more intently. What are the expectations for Patrick Patterson and John Salmons?

Salmons wont be with the team past this season (1million dollar buyout...saves like 6mil vs the cap next year) and PPat has been a pleasant surprise.

I dont think all that much was expected from either, but both have outperformed expectations to this point. Ppat especially has defended well has range and isnt scared of getting on the boards. Salmons has been much better than Sacramento but not worth his 7mil for next season. His value is in his buyout saving money vs the cap.

I like Ppat a lot. Hes still young too. Prlly not a starter, but he could be a pretty good change of pace big to come in to replace amir. Hes got the range amir wishes he had, and even play 20-25, split mins pretty evenly I think. Legit part of the future.

Salmons is what he is, not going to get anything more then what he is currently bringing.

Patterson is still young and when I saw him play on my US road trip he was the best player on the Kings over the two games I saw them play. I never paid much attention to him before I watched him play but I have been a fan ever since. I would like to see him get more minutes because he does everything you could want.

It's not an "art". You can outrebound guys with good positioning, a strong base, quick, explosive leaping (even if you don't jump all that high), and active hands. The positioning bit is probably the mental side that's not teachable that easily, but being a good rebounder even if you're undersized isn't like some magical ability that exists in a chosen few like pulling the sword from the stone.
