Post-Game Talk: Utterly Rittich-ulous Leafs Lose 6-3

After last week with Matthews saying he aggravated his wrist injury vs Montreal, then not being able to do much vs Calgary and sitting the next game. Now he's clearly passing up shots again because it's obviously a problem.
Next game we lose Hyman and Mikheyev to injuries
Tonight Bogosian goes down
Andersen has been down for a while and he's the only goalie in the system capable of taking us deep IF he gets healthy and rounds into form

This crap happens every year.

Leafs dominate and help ruin the Canucks tank. Difference tonight was simply down to goaltending and Rittich was an embarrassment. Calling that an ECHL performance would be generous.

If Skilliter refs a single playoff game it'll be game 2 in Boston all over again. Most incompetent ref in the league and it's not remotely close.

I've come around on Dubas, but that won't stop me from laughing my ass off if he can't win a round in this division and gets fired for it.

Even if the Leafs lose in round 1 Dubas isn't the one who the axe will fall on imo

Two things:

1. the team isn’t playing with as much speed or desperation as they did earlier on in the season. Keefe has overplayed the defenseman, Marincin, Sandin and Liljegren should have been rotated in on a consistent basis to keep our guys fresh. It is evident the defensive core has been run into the ground.

2. I like our team still, but we need to get the new additions in and we need to have better goaltending to give ourselves a shot

It's a sad predicament right now when as fan I have no faith in goalie that this organization has. Time to go back to Campbell and try to roll a 7. We'll be lucky to win a round with the goalies we have.

F the refs.

You can be unhappy with the refs but there are much bigger problems at play here.

Having awful goaltending is the biggest one

Secondly having a severe lack of scoring punch on a consistent basis. Nylander was lights out tonight and Tavares was good, but our other big two were shut down. Other than that who did a damn thing out there? Especially 5 on 5.

We have Foligno coming which is nice, but we are down Hyman, now Bogosian, Mikheyev, and we obviously are dying for Freddy to come back.

I’m definitely concerned. These should have been two very winnable games and now we sit at 5 losses in a row with Winnipeg and Edmonton hot on our heels.

It wouldn’t be unreasonable to see this team continue to plummet the standings into third place.

Love to get inside Foligno's head after watching this team since the deadline ... I imagine something like "what was I thinking approving this trade?"

Then again, he's going back to Columbus with Toronto's first round pick, just probably anticipating he won't be wearing a Cup ring when he walks into the Columbus locker room.
