Not using "da future" to acquire some veteran help and properly surround Slaf and CC. Max Lapierre was talking about it yesterday that Habs don't seem to have vets that take youngsters under their wing. Take them to live into their homes and keep them straight when required.
Matheson actually offered to have Slaf live with his family in his rookie season. HuGo rejected the offer. Not sure if it would have been a good choice, but it seems to be more a management directive than really the vets refusing to do it.

But at this point, outside of Gallagher, none of the vets are really in it. Even the coach sometimes looks demoralized.

that is a HUGE mistake and they continue to not even try to correct it. If MSL doesn't want an experience assistant coach - tough shit. Hughes shouldn't give a F what MSL wants. Worse, giving MSL that ridiculous 3 year contract that probably is now also makes it harder to can his ass. How many ex coaches does Molson have to keep paying? (not that I give a shit about molson's money)

I would also say that his trades were Dach and Newhook were bad. Habs would have been much better served with tough 3rd/4th lines than these guys. In either scenario that team would still at best only have 1 decent line. So wasted two first round picks.

Goalies situation last season and also this season. Still no backup.

Passing on Michkov in itself is worthy of firing.

Hughes is no good.
On MSL we agree. I think that KH must act sooner rather then later otherwise we risk to turn into an OTT situation with bad leadership and bad working habits.

I dont agree with the Dach trade. Yes Dach is not good right now, but that was not always the case. see my previous post.

On the G, yeah, this was not ideal and a mistake (small one that is) in retrospect, but at the time the decision made sense. Primeau was playing well last year (or at least good enough).

Keeping Allen would have help both at the G position and vet presence in the locker room. I agree that they fail to bring solid leadership and grit in the lineup. They may have hoped that Dvorak and Armia would have done a better job too as they are entering contract year.

Michkov: well God knows why they pass on him, but I can bet 100$ that if we draft Michkov in 2023, we are not drafting Demidov in 2024. That draft was D heavy and without Reibacher in the system, they would have taken one in lieu of a forward.

That said, I'm not of the view that decision made where bad as the info available to them at the time supported their action.

Wasn't Gallagher living with Gorges when he came up?

And to me this is a problem. It can't happen. control you feeling on the bench, good and bad. Rookie coach mistake that is sinking the ship right now

its a problem of so many areas
team needs progression not regression ... is that what you want? go backwards?
The team needs an influx of true talent more than anything else. Let it tank. Aside from a handful of players, there's nothing to safeguard for the futute. This whole 'progression is paramount' is wholly premature. Two thirds of the team won't be here in 5 years time.

Whoever is criticizing the coach can explain how another coach would have taught the players how to handle the puck? I'd love to hear it.

I suggest to Martin St. Louis not do skating drills, work with the puck, passing. That's horror. How does he explain the tactical if players can't handle the puck? Compare that to Utah.

By the way, Slafkovsky has a rookie contract this season. Can he move to Laval? And Dach needs a conditional training. The fourth line isn't working at all.

I hope every watch why Hutson is playing in the 2nd PP Unit.

I think Laine would the best player tomorrow if he is play.
This is the ultimate in management toe sucking. I assume that if the team or individual players were to start playing well, you'd happily attribute it to the coach though. Also, love the idea of sending down our 1OA pick to the AHL so the coach can save face. :help:

Dach in OT is still so stupid, let's put Savard and Xhekaj out there with him too so we can give up a goal faster next time

I understand the case fo having dach play OT, even if i have zero faith in him doing anything in that moment at this point in time....but I hate having dvorak opening 3 on 3s. Even if you win the draw, if he stays on the ice, he's a vanilla threat, and if he tries to change, it disrupts the flow regardless.

Pretty "meh" game. At least we're not as bad defensively as we were earlier in the season, bleeding chances and constantly getting hemmed in our own zone. It's more about finding ways to create offense now.

It's clear we're still sorely lacking the skill and hockey IQ through our lineup to pick up on what the other team is giving us positionally and make the most of it to get a scoring opportunity.

Slaf looks a bit lost offensively.
Newhook's passing has looked bad lately.
Dach seems to have very little confidence.
Caufield has slowed his production down a lot and seems to have stopped shooting.
Dvorak does nothing special offensively.
Anderson has no creativity and can't make a play aside from shooting.
The list goes on.

I was told the team turned the corner because they beat Edmonton
There is no way anyone can claim we've turned a corner until we put together a string of 5 or 6 good games in a row.
We don't necessarily have to win them but at least show an NHL level of competence.

No Molson is all about IMAGE and if the boo's keep reigning down he will eventually have to react.
This fabled franchise shouldn't be the mess that it is. Molson's legacy so far? He has overseen the worst Habs team in history over his time as owner.

The only real mistake thus far from Gorton and KH is hiring MSL. We may not all think that some trade are good, but none of them are mistake per say.

MSL should have been an assistant coach first. Now we are stuck with Pouty Face as head coach.
MSL did really well with our prospects. Everyone coming into this season had improved significantly since he took over. So I don't think it's accurate to say that hiring him was a mistake. He did a lot of good for us while we were rebuilding.

That being said, this year's a disappointment. I think most people expected us to be a lot better than we've been. Every coach has a shelf life and maybe MSL's is over. All of the positives he had coming into this year have reversed. Dach, CC, Newhook Slaf... all developed really well under him and all have taken a step back. Caufield's goal numbers are okay but his play is way off from where it should be. The team isn't generating any offensive pressure and we don't look anywhere close to the teams we had even last year.

I'm not sure if a new coach is the solution or if they need an injection of veteran talent. But the team doesn't look right and hasn't looked right since training camp. Normally camp isn't an indication of anything but it certainly set the tone for this season. Injuries haven't helped but we should be so much better than we are regardless.
