Because amongst other things, the veteran leadership is completely non existent. Who do the young guys look to for inspiration when they see ghosts like DVo Armia, Anderson and Savard give no second effort..

I thought Dvo & Savard played well tonight. Well, during the times Savard wasn't in the penalty box. Also, Armia was epic on the pk. None of them are meant to be leaders. They're support players.

Slaf pooped the bed

I don't think Slaf played that bad. He had two fantastic setups: one to Armia, one to Suzuki. Both missed the net, which was an overly strong theme tonight. He played well defensively and had a dominant shift after getting on the ice with Gallagher.

Slafkovsky's game is based off cycling the puck, and making plays off the rush, but there's no one for him to cycle with. Dach doesn't play that game. Anderson sucks at it.

Gallagher or Suzuki are the best pairings for him, or even Heineman.

Of course, the guy had a full blown mutiny on his hand after less than a year as HC. That's quite the accomplishment.
The worst thing to happen to Ducharme was Claude Julien. I always thought he had the potential to coach a good exciting game but he became as much of a dinosaur as the rest of the plugs we’ve kept employed outside of maybe Guy Carbonneau in the 21st century.

At this point, I would bring back Gainey and Carbo behind the bench. True leaders with coaching experience.

Bad bad bad team... Not much else to say, HuGo are obviously tanking again this year. Suzuki realized it and he's mailing it in. Dach and Slaf are just struggling really bad tho.

Can Laine really save this sad bunch??
It’s one thing to be the hunter which Slaf-Suzuki-Cc were last season, and quite another to be “the hunted” … that adjustment at the NHL level is enormous.

So yes, if Laine can contribute by providing secondary offense that’s been non existent from a 2nd line….it will “save this sad bunch”

There is a difference between getting benched in the 3rd period to send a message and getting demoted to the ahl. Talk about destroying the confidence of your 1ov. They all play like shit. Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Newhook. Should they send them down too?
  • They don't have rookie contract. And again, only on the paper so that a player might be recalled from Laval I mean 1-2 games. If I understand right, Laval is next Montreal.
  • Dach didn't play much time, if he doesn't make stupid mistakes, he can be apologized. Also I am saying about conditional games in his way. It is possible, look at Jarry.
  • Laine was healthy-scratch too. One game. On the anniversary of his father's death, btw. Try to imagine how he felt himself.

Let Carbo finish out the year, than totally revamp the staff in the summer.
This whole HuGo experiment is about doing what Frank Selke Sr did back in 1947… getting completely away from the way the org traditionally did things… innovate

Despite winning 2-Cups in 3 years GM Tommy Gorman was replaced by Selke Sr who went 7-years rebuilding the entire org before winning a Cup

Laine will help bringing balance to the top6, but I don't think it will happen right away. He's coming back after 2 long term injuries, expects him to need time to get the ball rolling.
