"Hockey Club" kills me. They better not keep it. This isn't soccer, and just seems so... "EURO" Like, Canadians, Americans, Hockey... just exudes toughness and that name just oozes soccer soft.

The Canadiens have had the initials for “hockey club” on their jerseys for over 100 years, and it’s been written on the Stanley cup dozens of times… just sayin

I like the Utah jerseys and since a nickname is a complete marketing tool at this point, why get excited over it?

Interesting. I guess there is a tradition of referring to cryptids in the singular but still a little weird. Of course there is NHL precedent both ways: Seattle Kraken, singular; New Jersey Devils, plural.

I think across the big four leagues there's less than 10 or 15 singular names. Miami Heat, Orlando Magic two I know off the top of my head.

Seriously...... I personally think they've settled on Yeti as the mascot, but they're having all the usual issues with branding conflicts, trademarking and etc.

Both are terrible (though one was likely always going to be temporary). Yeti is up there with Wild for the worst names in pro sports.

Ok, agree to disagree, HC is awful and is far too reminiscent of soccer teams. As far as saying it sounds like a pejorative slurred though, that just sounds a bit like crying wolf, no? This is hockey, not skiing and it's a fictional animal meant to appeal to kids
